The new Goddess

We were walking for days now and we still hadn't find something strange. Alex and Tess laughed and talked a lot. I had Alex never seen so happy before. I guess she really needed a good friend. She was way more positive to the group, that had a lot of effects. Callum talked a lot more and Abby wasn't annoyed every time Alex said something. I liked to see her that way. She had such a cute smile.
Once Callum asked me if I liked Alex. 'No way.' I'd said. He'd smiled. 'Yes you do! I can see it! The way you look at her says enough!' I was nervous and started blushing. Callum laughed. 'You're the worst lier ever! But it's okay, I know the feeling.'
'What do you mean?'
'Well it's not exactly the same...'
'But?'
'Well, Tess is kind of beautiful, isn't she?'
I'd laughed. Did he like Tess? 'Yes,' i said, 'she's beautiful, but I prefer blondes.'
We laughed. Not because it was so funny but because it was a little awkward. Callum and I barely knew each other and now we were sharing things like this.
My thoughts were interrupted by Abby yelling: 'YES!!!'
I looked up and saw a abandoned cottage. I understood why Abby was so happy, we'd barley slept the last days. We'd always slept in the woods or under the stars, but maybe sleeping wasn't the right word. We heard scary sounds the whole time. And from time to time a monster came visiting us. Now there was a cottage right in front of us. We could sleep under a roof, safe and warm.
We went inside. It wasn't that bad, there was a couch in the living room and upstairs stood two beds.
'Who will take the first watch?' Alex asked. Nobody seemed really happy with the idea. I sighed. 'I'll do it.' Alex smiled. 'Thanks Finn!'
She and Tess went to the living room with the couch. Callum and Abby went upstairs. I got a chair and settled by the door window. From here I could see everything. After a while it was silent in the cottage. I guessed that everyone slept. For the first time I felt how tired I really was. I looked outside, the stars were so bright. And-.

iI didn't remember falling asleep, but I woke up because the sun was shining in my face. I yawned and stretched myself out. I decided to look if Alex and Tess were still sleeping. When I entered the room I saw something horrible. Tess was standing next to Alex, who was still asleep. Above Alex hang a sword, and Tess was looking at it. I couldn't believe it. Why was she trying to kill Alex?
'You!' I yelled. 'Get away from her!'
Tess turned around. 'Shh!' She said.
'How dare you! She trusted you!'
'Finn! Shut up! It's not what it looks like!'
I was so angry. I grabbed a stick and hit Tess on her head. She screamed and started to punch and kick me. I grabbed her and pushed her against the wall. 'Let me go!' She said. 'You don't understand! If Alex wakes up, she'll die! The sword is hanging right above her! Let me do something!'
'Pff,' I said, 'you're the one who did that. You wanted to kill her.'
'What the Pluto! Why should I want to kill her? You would help her too if you woke up and saw a sword hanging above her!'
'It's what the Hades, stupid Roman.'
she punched me again, harder this time. I had to let hear go. She kicked against the ground. Callum and Abby ran inside. 'What's happening?' Abby asked. She saw the sword and gasped. And then Alex woke up, she didn't went straight up but turned a little. The sword hit her shoulder instead of her heart. Alex face paled. Tess ran forward to help her. Alex grabbed her shoulder. She was trying hard not to cry or scream. The sword was poisoned, there was some green stuff coming from it and it was also in the wound on Alex' shoulder. Tess grabbed the underside of her shirt so we could see her belly. She did this so she could grab the sword without getting poisoned. I looked at Callum. He was blushing. 'Callum don't just stand there! Do something! You're a son of Apollo!' Tess yelled. Callum rushed forward, trying hard not to look at Tess and her shirtless belly. It was hard for me not to laugh, Callum acted so funny around Tess.
Abby looked shocked. 'Is- Is she going to be okay?' She asked Callum. Callum thought. 'Yeah,' he finally said, 'it will take a while to heal, but she's going to be okay. We're so lucky the sword didn't hit her heart. Otherwise she would be dead now.'
I looked at Alex. She was paler than ever and there was sweat on her forehead. She looked really sick.
I looked at Tess and realized how stupid it was to think she wanted to kill Alex. It was my fault. I had the first watch but fell asleep. Tess' head was bleeding and I saw she had a huge cut In her forehead. Also my fault. I had to tell her how sorry I was. But how?
