The new Goddess

'Tess.' I said. 'Tess, listen to me, I have to talk to you.' She ignored me. 'Look I know I was wrong. But I'm sorry, I'm really sorry! I was just... Well, you're a Roman, and you're sixteen, you would never survive without camp. I thought, maybe you're on a quest to kill Alex? But I was wrong, I know that. Please forgive me.'
'You could just ask me why I was still alive... You didn't need to make a cut in my forehead!' She answered.
'I'm sorry...' I said.
She sighed. 'I guess I have to forgive you...'
'Why?'
'Because you did it to protect Alex. Venus, I mean Aphrodite, would want me to forgive you.'
I didn't understand what she was talking about but I was happy she forgave me.
I walked back to the others, they were already sleeping. It was night and Tess had the first watch, she didn't fell asleep like me. Tess and the others were people you could trust. You couldn't say that from me... I was just the stupid boy that screwed things up.
The group was sleeping, it looked so peaceful. Then I noticed Alex' head laying against Callum's shoulder. For a moment I thought about pulling Alex away from him, but she would wake up and scream at me. She was already angry at me and I didn't want to make it worse.
'Hey.' I looked up. Abby had opened her eyes. She looked sleepy. 'What were you doing?' She asked.
'Oh uhm, I went to pee.' I lied. She laughed. I lay next to her. We talked about some random things, nothing special. I really liked Abby. Not like like, but in a friendly way. Abby was the only one that I could have a conversation with. Alex was angry at me all the time, and Callum and Tess didn't talk to me that much since I attacked Tess.
Abby and I talked and laughed for a while and then we fell asleep. I had a dream that night, it was really weird. I was standing in a dark cave, there was only one lamp. I walked to it and looked at it. Suddenly the lamp went out. I looked around. Cold air filled the rook. No, I thought. Not some air monster again! The air pulled me in another room, this room was lighter. I was sitting behind a couch and I could see two people sitting at a table, unfortunately there wasn't enough light to see their faces. I wasn't sure but I thought that one of them was a women. They were discussing something and I was almost sure it wasn't something good. Someone else was coming in. It was a monster I'd never seen before. He whispered something in the women's ear and she nodded. She said something to the man and she and the monster left. The man was alone now. I wanted to get closer, hopefully I could see the notes.
Not so far from the couch was a pilar. Just before the table. If I could get behind the pilar....
It's now or never I thought. I snuck in the direction of the pilar but on my way I hit something. The man looked at the couch and I didn't move. He narrowed his eyes and putted his hand on the couch. My dream faded and I woke up.
Abby was still sleeping, but Callum and Tess were awake. I didn't see Alex so I guess she took the second or third watch. I thought about my dream, what could it mean? 'Finn.' Tess said. 'Can you come over here? We have to talk to you about something.' Oh oh I thought. This isn't good. 'Look,' Callum said, 'we're close to the mountains. We have to go over them to travel further. The problem is that some stuff we need from the nature only grows here at the ground. So we have to collect it now. Tess and I made a plan: everyone is going to collect some stuff, it won't take to much time this way. You and Abby have to look for this.' Callum gave me a list with a couple of things. 'And what's Alex going to do?' I asked. I wished I could look for the supplies with her.... 'Oh, she goes with Tess.' Callum said and Tess nodded. 'Okay..' I said. And I walked to Abby to tell her about our 'mission'.
We were about to leave when I saw Alex. I smiled, I loved to see her. She looked at me and Abby. 'What are they doing?' She asked. 'They're going to collect the supplies of the list.' Callum answered.
'Just the two of them?'
'Yes, why?'
Alex looked at me. It wasn't an angry or disappointed look, it was a nice look and it made me blush. I turned around and hoped that no one saw it. I felt so happy! I wanted to go to her and kiss her. But that was a no go, so I looked on the list: some special sort of berries was the first thing we had to look for. Callum drew the berry next to it so we would recognize it. I looked at Abby. 'Let's find those berries!' She nodded and we walked into the woods. I looked back ones and saw Alex. I thought she was smiling at me but I wasn't sure. I mean, Alex smiling at me? Impossible.
