The new Goddess

The next day we finally arrived at CHB. It was amazing to be back. Everyone was doing the normal routine and I couldn't stop watching it.
We went trough the gate and the campers welcomed us.
'ABBY!!' I heard someone yell and a few seconds later Gale was hugging her twin sister almost to death. I grinned and a few friends welcomed me back. It was so cool to see them again! I'd never realized how much I actually missed this place.
'Yes I'll tell you later, but I have to go and help Alex now with something.' I heard Abby say behind me.
'Alex?!' Gale said, but her sister was already gone. 'Since when is Abby so close with Alex?!'
She looked at me.
'Oh ehm, being on a quest together makes you kind of close I think.' I said and I wanted to turn around but Gail grabbed my arm. 'And?' She said.
'And what.'
'And who is Alex godly parent? That was your quest right?'
'Uhm yeah but-'
'So who is it?'
'I- I really need to go. Bye.'
'Finn wait!'
I didn't wait. I ran away from her and felt kind of stupid. Could we just tell that Alex was a goddess? Or did it have to be a secret?
I walked down to the cabins and saw Callum talk to a few of his sibling. I waved at him and he waved back. He looked better and happier then at Olympus. I was happy with that, seeing a friend in pain is never fun.
I opened the door of the Hermes cabin and saw Alex sitting on her bed. I'd totally forgotten she slept in this cabin.
'Oh hi ale-' I started but then I noticed she was packing her backpack. 'Alex what are you doing?'
She looked up in shock and pushed the backpack behind her back. 'Nothing.' She said.
I raised my eyebrows and came closer to her. She pushed the backpack more and more away.
'Alex I'm not stupid. Why are you packing your bag?'
She looked down.
'Because... Because I have to leave.'
'You what?'
'I have to leave. I have to train so I can control my powers and get stronger.'
'But... No!'
'Yes Finn. I'm sorry but I think it's better to go our own ways now.' She looked up but still didn't look me in the eyes.
'You're breaking up with me..'
'Well... We were never really together so-'
'Thats not the point! Why didn't you tell me before?!'
'Because I knew you would get all hysterical like this!'
'Im not hysterical!'
'Oh you definitely are!'
'When are you leaving?' I said trying to be calmer.
'Tomorrow.'
'And when tomorrow.'
'Afternoon.'
'You're sure about that?' I'd never seen someone leaving in the afternoon. Mostly at sunrise.
She nodded.
'Its not a lie right?'
No answer.
'Alex it's not a lie right.'
'No it's not.' She sighed after a while.
'So shall we enjoy our last day together?' I asked.
'You really don't get it don't you?'
'Then explain! Don't make everything so complicated!'
'I just have to think... About my mother and-'
'Your mother?! You call Khione your mother?! She's not worth that! She's an enemy!'
'Yeah so?! Finn can you please go away? You're not making things better.'
'Ill stay with you as long as possible.'
'Finn just go away and go live your life. Don't spoil it on me. I will be gone soon. Just forget about the past few days, weeks, whatever.'
'I don't want to forget...'
'Finn just go now. There are tons of other girls outside who do like you and who will be sweet and nice to you. Just go to them and your friends and have fun. I'll just go to Poseidon to train. We will just go our own ways.'
I have to admit, that comment about girls who do like me kind of hurt.
'Alex you don't have to get more powerful. You're good as you are. For me you are perfect the way you are.'
'Dont be selfish. There's a war coming and I have to get stronger. I have to help people and the other gods and I can not do that if I'm weak! Don't you dare only think of yourself and how sad you will be. Do you think it's all easy for me?'
'Wow wow calm down...'
'No you're selfish!' She said pointing at me.
She stood up ready to leave but I grabbed her arms.
'Alex I-'
'Let me go. Now.'
'Alex listen-'
'Let me go! Or I'll freeze you!'
I saw the same crazy look in her eyes as she had when we were at Olympus and she suddenly got really mad at Hera. I let go and looked at her in shock.
Alex shook her head. 'I- I'm sorry.'
And with that she ran out of the cabin.
I was stunned and could only look at the door which was still open. Alex would never really hurt me roght? She wouldn't really freeze me?
After a while I sat down in her bed with a sigh, looking at her backpack. I knew I wasn't allowed to do it but I opened her backpack and looked what was inside: a lot of practical things, but then, in a little sack on the inside of the backpack I found a piece of paper. No it was a picture, a picture of me and Alex. We'd taken it at her first day here, with a new invention of one of the Hephaestus kids. Did she really take this picture everywhere with her? That thought actually made me kind of smile.
