The Runner
Iris Message
“What’s going on?” I asked, then frowned. “Is that a… Is that a cyclone?”
She gulped. “It’s Aeolus, he’s gone mad! He’s trying to kill the whole camp!”
I shook my head, “But the wards-?”
“The wards are down. Cordelia, kids are dying out there trying to get to shelter. We can’t last this long. We need…” She paused to wipe away the tears on her face, “We need your help. You’re a child of the wind, aren’t you? Maybe you can stop this.”
“How do you-?”
She shrugged as best she could with the wind pulling at her. “There are ways. Maybe this is why your father sent you away, so you could be safe. But we need you now, Cordelia. We need you and your cousins to save us. Please.”
“Willow I-”
She shook her head. “You can do this. Despite what you believe, you are not alone. Not anymore.” Her eyes flicked to her surroundings and they widened, “I have to go, good luck.”
“Willow-”
Her talons raked through the Iris Message and the message ended, leaving me breathing hard with my eyes burning from tears I refused to shed. Camp Half-Blood was in danger, and it was up to me to save it.
If only I knew how.
