Time's Daughter
A Different Kind of Battle
I grunted with pain as the person who'd stolen my older brother's body gripped my neck tightly. He allowed just enough air to reach my lungs so I wouldn't pass out. Not like it ever mattered. I used the last of my power to send Nico away with my newborn son before I even got the chance to see him. I was drained.
I stared at the man in front of me. Trying my hardest to convince myself that it wasn't Darren in front of me. That it was Athaliah's mortal enemy, Kuro. But all I saw was my brother.
"Darren," I choked out. "Please, speak to me."
The man in front of me laughed. "Athaliah, you know better than that," he scolded. "The people I possess are long dead."
"NO!" I screamed, kicking out. "Get out of my brother!"
He only continued laughing as if my kicks did nothing but tickle him. "You are weak Athaliah," He chuckled. "I thought you knew better than to use your power in my presence--it will take days for you to recharge with me.
I trembled as a sudden tiredness came over me. Kuro/Darren laughed. "Black holes will absorb all of your energy--your host will be luck to survive the night, Athaliah."
My vision blackened and I passed out.
I blinked in the harsh sunlight. I didn't remember coming here. Where was I? The baby squirmed in my arms. I held him tightly to me.
"Don't you worry Levi," I told him. "I'm gonna get mama back."
I looked around. As soon as I figured out where I am.
"Nico?" called a voice behind me.
I turned Jason was walking towards me, Piper and Jake with them. They looked like they were out on a family walk.
"What are you doing here, Nico?" Piper asked. "Isn't Angel due soon?" She just noticed the baby. "Oh!" She broke into a smile. "Congratulations! Where's Angel?"
I opened my mouth to say something, but choked on tears. They rushed forward as I slumped to the ground. Piper instantly going into mother mode and taking care of my son. Jason wrapped in arm around my shoulder.
"Something happened?" he asked, knowingly. I nodded.
"So your pursuer finally showed his face."
I nodded. "She used to last of her power to send me and--" I nodded to Levi. "away." The last word nearly caught in my throat.
Being together with her constantly, made it difficult for me to be separated from her.
"Is she still underworld?" Jason asked, trying to get down to the bottom of this.
I shrugged. "Doubtful," I muttered. The man could've taken her anywhere.
Jason and Piper looked at each other. "Iris Message?"
I didn't see why it wouldn't work, so we tried it. and our selves staring at the strangest scene I have ever laid eyes on. And that's saying a lot.
Angel had silver bands around her neck and wrists, they were shackles, and their chains let to a man stilling on a black throne holding the chains like a leash.
Angel glared at the man not seeing their message, but the man did. He smiled, amused.
"Get out of my brother!" Angel bit. "Get out of him now Kuro!"
I raised an eyebrow, how did she know his name? And I was pretty sure her brothers were dead, both of them.
"Do you say anything else?" He asked, amused. "Or are you just stuck on repeat?"
Angel spat out a series of curse, each worse than the last. Jason and Piper looked at me, skeptically.
"Well, she's got a mouth now doesn't she?" Piper muttered, quietly.
We turned back to the rainbow image as Angel summoned her scythe, She charged at the man, who only laughed.
"Don't you ever learn?" he snarled, almost annoyed now. He yanked on the chains, pulling her to the ground and knocking the weapon from her hands. Then he proceeded to get up off the throne. Pulling on the chains so she dangled in the air. "I'm really getting tired of this game," he taunted. "When will you do as I say?"
Angel spat at him. "NEVER!"
The man only smiled, are you sure that's a good idea? He turned her look at us, his eyes turned pure black, as Angel followed his gaze.
Here eyes widened in fear. "NO!'" she screamed at us. "What are you doing! Stay out of this!"
A black blade materialized in front of the rainbow, inching through to the other side, and my throat.
"NO!" screamed Angel. "NO! DON'T!"
The blade kept moving. "PLEASE!" she continued screaming. "STOP! I'll DO IT!"
The blade stopped, and vanished. "Angel?" I asked. "What did you do?"
She was crying. "I'm sorry." The image dissolved.
I stared at it. What had Angel agreed to?
