Chapter 7- Magical Apples
Lou Ellen seemed out of breath. I guess it's difficult conjuring up all that stuff. She took a step forwards and shook my hand. "It's good to meet you." I said.
"It's good to meet you too!" She said excitedly.
I woke up the next morning to grunting. It seemed to come from the bathroom. My first thought is is Lou constipated? I knock on the bathroom door, really having to pee. "Lou," I say, "How long do you think you'll be? I'm about to pee myself." She opens the door.
"Oh, I wasn't... What you think I was. I was trying to make a mist-form."
"Mist-form?" I ask as I run in and close the door. She continues to talk as I... pee.
"Oh, yes! I forgot, you're new! Mist-forms are animals made out of Mist. We can summon them, but it's difficult. Also, I thought that if you wanted to, we could practice some magic and I could give you some pointers!" She says through the door.
I step out of the bathroom. "Wow. I'm so excited!" I said. I honestly was. When I was ten, I read the Harry Potter series. I can't tell you how disappointed I was on my eleventh birthday.
Lou and I walk out of the cabin. "Lou," I say, "Have you ever met our mom?" Her face darkens. "Many times. Hecate is quite a lot more social with her kids than other Gods. I'm sure you'll meet her soon. Just warning you," She said, "She can be tough. She has insanely high expectations and is always disappointed in me. Fortunately, she is also loving and feels slightly bad afterwards. If you meet her expectations, she won't forget it.
We stand on a flat stretch of land, deep into the forests. It's a nice little clearing with no trees. Lou straightens her posture. "Okay, so today we're just going to try something simple. We are going to conjure and apple." She says. I nod. "Okay, so close your eyes. Imagine the apple in front of you. Imagine every last detail, right down to the ridges and bumps," She says. "I must warn you before we start. If you start... well, magic can consume you. Make you dark and evil. Eat you up on the insides. You must be strong." I nod. I close my eyes, imagining a perfect apple in my out-stretched hands. I must have stood there for five minutes. Then, I feel a weight in my hands. I excitedly open my eyes to see.. an apple.
