Behind the Shadows

Despite leaving without being followed or hounded down by Lukes scary female friend Sapphire still felt the need to be quiet and on alert as she search the place further to find an exit. The smell of the ocean seemed even more strong now and the swaying was persistent making Sapphire consider the fact that this place may actually a large ship. Her head was quiet now. Except the for all the words that she had said to Luke now swirling around making her want to curl up and disappear.
The ship was still quiet and empty feeling, making Sapphire really uneasy and really suspicious. If Sapphire had a list of strange days this one would be right at the top with bright green highlighter on it. Her footsteps echoed everywhere she went. There really was no point in her pretending to some sort of ninja. Sapphire sighs in disappointed and continues her pointless wondering. She scoops around always looking for a hidden camera. For all she knew Luke could be laughing his socks off watching Sapphire ponder around the ship looking like a lost child. A smile fails to form at the image of it. If Jake were here he would be grinning like the Cheshire cat. Another disappointed sigh escapes her.
Sapphire passes another door and trudges over to it, She grabs the handle and yanks at it. It opens. The door was just like all the others, but it had drawn her over.
Sapphire sighs.
"Please let there be no more surprises." She breathes out in a whisper. Sapphire pushes the door open further and walks inside. The room looks like a five star hotel suite. Its massive and beautiful. The walls are painted violet and the wooden floor has a large fluffy looking rug spread on it. A four poster bed occupies most of the room. She sees another door to her left. It must me a on-suite. No doubt it's just a posh as the bedroom. The bedroom has the usual furniture. A dressing table, wardrobe and a large bookcase. Sapphire breaths in the rooms beauty. A groan comes from somewhere in the room. She freezes and scrambles across the room to find where the noise came from. It only occurs to her when she is at the other side of the room that she is weaponless. What use is she if what ever made the noise turns out to be a monster. A big, evil demigod hungry monster. The groan sounds again and this time she knows it came from under the bed. Forgetting that she is weaponless Sapphire crouches down and peers under the bed. She can't see much from the lack of light under there, but she came make out the shape of whatever it it. All she can make out is that it's a person.
"Hello" Sapphire stutters. The person groans some more and slowly moves to face her. It does not help Sapphire because she can still not see who ever it is.
"Sapphire?" The person grumbles. Its a male and the voice sound familiar. The guy continues to move until he crawls out from under the bed.Sapphire frowns when she sees him. He is broken and bruised with blood all over his camp half blood shirt.
"Jake, what happened?" Sapphire asks while she crawls over to him and inspects all the injuries on his face.
"They came to my school and just took me" Jake cringes away when Sapphire touches a painful looking bruise on his left cheek.
"Luke?" Jake nods and takes Sapphires hand into his own. Analysing her for injuries of her own.
"I heard some of them talking about needing me as some sort of bait to get you." Sapphire frowns and looks Jake over. Luke had not even hinted that Jake was here. How was the baiting plan supposed to work if she didn't even know about it? Jake being all beaten up was even more strange. What had Luke been thinking?
"We need to get out of here" Sapphire mutters. Jake just stares at her as though shes talking no sense.
"Saph" Jake groans "Luke has no intention of letting you go"
Sapphire fumbles with his hand thinking. Jake was barely even able to move which would only make getting out of her a challenge. Sapphire was also weaponless and still had trouble summoning water on command. looking around the room Sapphire growls.
"How come you are in a room like this and I woke up in a closet on a ha-mick?" Jake just stares at her for what feels like a long time before a grin slaps on his face.
"I don't know the answer to that, but it does make me slightly more grateful in this situation" Jake's voice is strained and Sapphire knows it must be taking a lot of effort for him to just speak. She stands up and offers Jake a hand before she helps him to the bed to lay down. Jake smiles at her when he is under the covers. Sapphire offers a small smile back. Jake is asleep in minutes and Sapphire continues to stare. A feral anger crawls through her seeing him broken and in so much pain. She couldn't leave him here alone, she was too scared to leave him alone and defenseless. A hopeless breath of air escapes her and she sits on the end of the bed leaning against one of the posts. She continues to watch him like a hawk. Luke had broken up the only family she had known since she was a little girl and now he had hurt Jake and that was her breaking point. It didn't matter that Luke had once been her brother and her best friend because now he was her enemy. Her own war had just begun.
