Darkness
Chapter One
"Shhhh!" I silenced my talkative brother with a finger to my lips. He rolled his eyes and shuffled around to get a better hearing position. My fingers curled against the freezing wall as I listened in on the conversation.
"I have a very important message for all of you." I recognize Chiron's voice as the one full of wisdom and knowledge. "Erebus has awoken an army thousands of years old, ready to overtake Olympus."
Gasps filled the room. I put a hand over my mouth to prevent the gasp from escaping my tongue. Chiron clopped his hooves on the ground getting the seven's attention.
"I know this comes as a shock, since you all have defeated Gaea, but only you all can stop him." There was a silence, then an angered tone,
"Seriously? Why are we dealing with this? Can't we get a break?!" A muttered agreeing came from the demigods. Chiron sighed, "Percy, I would love to have a break too, but the world needs you."
A chair was slid across the room, "NO! It doesn't! Send some other demigods! I had enough!" Pounding footsteps came to the door. I sprung up and bodyflopped into a plant.
Through some leaves I could see the retreating figure of Percy Jackson. Annabeth Chase, his girlfriend quickly ran after him calling his name. I spotted Evan, my brother crouched behind the door. Seth my best friend was under a table. I could hear as Chiron dismissed the rest of the seven. I nodded to Seth and we took off running before the seven could find us. Leaving Evan to a group of tired, grumpy teens.
Seth was laughing as we burst onto the porch, scaring a group of Saytrs. I leaned against the wall, my chest heaving. Seth was red, his mouth pulled into a smile. I enjoyed as a fresh breeze cooled my sweaty skin. Seth gave me a look that said, 'that was awesome'. I grinned nodding, still catching my breath.
"Think Evan's alright?" Seth asked, eyes looking worried. "Yeah, he's been in worse jams." I answered, looking over the camp. Seth touched my shoulder, and I jumped in surprise.
"What do you think? About the whole Erebus thing?" I asked him as he slumped down into a lawnchair. Seth shrugged, "I dunno, it just seems... cool. Something we could do. You know?"
"What'd you mean?"
"I think we could stop Erebus. You, me and Evan."
"Really?" I gave Seth a look, "We can barley take down a Hellhound, how in Tartarus are we to stop an army?!" Seth grinned, "We don't stop them, we convince them that Tartarus is a bigger enemy. He'll use his army to attack Taratrus."
I laughed, "Tartarus? What has that gotten to do with anything?" Before Seth could answer, Ethan burst out of the Big House barreling into me. We both tumbled down the stairs and I hit my head on a step with a loud crack.
The world faded into black.
