The Trident Seekers

Chapter 15

As Liam and I made our way to the field, the other demigods were already starting to gather.
The blue team, led by the Athena cabin, had gathered their team of 6 cabins, and were all huddled up and discussing their battle strategy. Our team, the red team, had all get here's around a map while Steph and Jer were discussing which direction would be smartest to take the other head on.

Aaron found me, looking quite agitated, which was odd, for him. "Hey where'd you go off to?"
"Liam took me to the armoury to get my stuff. I found a sword, a helmet and a shield…" I responded, carrying off my sentence.
His eyes brightened at the word 'sword'. "Oh let me see."
I held my hand out brandishing my ring. As he looked at it, his expression darkened.
"Where did you find that?" He asked nervously.
"Uh I just told you. The armoury." I said.
"Um I don't think it's the best idea to have that, you should probably get a new one." He said shakily. Now I was erring worried.
"Aaron what's wrong with it? I love this sword," I tapped it, transforming into my beautiful Tidal Wave. "And its really cool! I'm sorry but I'm keeping it."
"Sandy, I'm serious. This sword is made of imperial gold. It's like the roman version of celestial bronze. But this one is enchanted. It's enchanted to punish those who aren't worthy of the sword. Being Greek, makes you unworthy. I'm a bit surprised it hasn't burned your fingers off." He explained.

I ran ran my hands down the blade, it was cool to the touch. Maybe it just liked me.
"You know, someone probably just made that up to dare people to try it. I mean, I'm fine. So there must some kind of mistake. I'm keeping it."
Aaron sighed. "Sandy I won't have you spontaneously combusting. Give me the sword." He said seriously.
I hoffed. "Take it then."
He reached for it and grabbed the hilt, he wasn't holding it for more them 5 seconds when he dropped the sword and let it clatter on the rocks. His hand was starting to blister. Ha, payback.

I reached down and picked the sword back up, tapped it and slid it onto my finger. I walked back towards Liam, who was trying not to laugh.
"So when are we starting this thing? I asked.
"Stephanie is just explaining the route. We're heading south." He replied.

"Red team, forward!" Stephanie yelled. And suddenly my team was heading down the path to the south woods. The blue team yelled taunts at us as they headed off towards the north.

I managed to catch up with Steph, without tripping over the rocky path. "Hey. What am I supposed to do during this game of yours?"
She kept on looking forward."Stick to Liam, you and he are being stationed near the creek far down. He'll tell you what to do."
I nodded. "Got it."
She turned towards me and kinda smiled. "And Sandy?"
"Yeah."
Her eyes were very bright in the morning light, thy seamed to twinkle. "Be safe. I've known Aaron a while, it would crush him if something happened to you. So just be cautious."
"Aaron worries too much about me. Gotta love him though."
I marched back to Liam, who was talking to one of the boys from the Hecate cabin, Hector.
"Hey partner, did Steph tell you where we'd be going because I have no idea where this creek thingie is." I said.
Liam said good luck to Hector, and turned towards me.
"Yeah it's really deep into the woods, you'll probably have to hold my arm or something it's so dark." He laughed. "Your not afraid of the dark are you?"
"Maybe I am. Maybe I'm not." I replied.

We neared our destination and Steph winked at me before she scurried into the woods with the test of the team, disappearing into the darkness.

Standing there in the dark with Liam kinda made me panic, no one would actually attack us right? He probably noticed how uneasy I was and he moved closer.
"Hey are you seriously scared of the dark?" He asked seriously.
I looked at him darkly. "My experiences with darkness haven't all been very nice."
He moved his hand towards my back and rubbed circles on my spine.
"My little sister is scared of the dark too, this would help." he said softly. Heat spreaded from where his fingers were on my lower back. It felt nice. I closed my eyes.
He drew his hand back, and gently touched my face.
"There was a random piece of grass on your cheek." he said quietly. His arm drew to his side again, I ended up beside him, leaning on him.
There was this thumping sound, then the sound of a twig snapping. I drew in a breath, and my hand latched on to the first thing it could find; Liam's hand. I shifted awkwardly at the feeling, but he squeezed my hand reassuringly, his fingers lacing through mine. "It's fine, just a bunny see?" He hooked his fingers under my chin and turned my head to, surely enough, a rabbit. I stifled a laugh.
"I feel stupid now." I giggled.
In the distance, a conch horn blew, we heard the clatter of swords, we drew our own. The game had begun.

Thank you!

@Burning Sun
It's totally fine:) thank you for letting me know I really appreciate it! And glad you like it:)) I'm really not one for lemon either, just thought the moment needed it☺️

Okay, I'm not dissing your story, I LOVED IT, I mean, up until you wrote the lemon. It's a good story, and yeah, the lemon got some key points across about how close they are, but I think you could find a non-lemon way to tell the readers that.
