Stacey Pendragon-daughter of the sea

Chapter seventeen

STACEY POV

"For the first and the last time, Anastasia Pendragon, go and get the damn donuts!"

"For the first and the last time, Perseus Jackson, I will not go and get the damn donuts!"

Boss, my donuts! I'm hungry.
it was the night before the chariot races. Percy and I were standing and squabbling in the stables. Why? It was simple. I had hidden the donuts he had brought for Blackjack and now he was demanding me to go get them. I had hidden it for him to find, not for me to go fetch them. Percy huffed in exasperation and told me slowly, as though talking to a three year old, "Stacey, go and get the donuts from wherever you have hidden them".

" I hid them for you to find, not for me to get" I replied. Boss, I am going to die of hunger. Donuts! Blackjack whined from another corner. "Blackjack, you yourself tell me. Do you want me to get them, or Percy? Because if Percy gets them, it might be a little late, but the donuts will be safe to eat. If I get them, I will get them quickly, but I might poison them. So? Who should get them?" I asked Blackjack. Boss, you get the donuts. I want to live. This crazy girl wants to kill me! He replied, naturally. Ha, ha. I win. Percy scowled at me and asked, "Where are they?". " Somewhere in the cabin" I replied. Percy walked out of the stables, but not before pulling my braid. "Oww!" I rubbed my head. Poor Percy. I really annoy the hell out of him. I took out the box of donuts from behind one of the empty stalls and opened them, took one in my hand and fed Blackjack. I took a donut for myself when suddenly a voice spoke behind me,

"You really know how to keep your brother in his place".

I whipped around, sword in hand. It rested on the strangers neck, who was standing behind me. I looked closely at the man. He had black hair and a black beard. His sea-green eyes were sparkling with amusement and there were smile lines on his face. He was wearing a pair of yellow Bermuda shorts and a Hawaiian shirt covered with coconuts, palm trees and parrots. He was holding a fishing net and was smiling with amusement at me. Why did he seem so familiar? Seeing this mans face, I felt a warm glow in me, as though igniting a fond memory. I could vaguely remember seeing his face as a baby. "Same fire in you as in your mother, I see" he remarked, his eyes travelling down to the sword on his throat. I gulped, but couldn't bring myself to lower the sword. "How do you know my mother?" I asked. "Well, I knew her very well, Alexandra Pendragon" he replied, the expression on his face changing to sorrow. Before I could say anything, Percy burst into the stables, looking furious. "Stacey, what did..." He stopped short when he took in the scene before him. Me, holding the sword at the mans throat. The man smiling at me. And lastly, me holding the box of donuts in my hand.

"Stacey, that is Poseidon. Put down your sword" he hissed at me. I looked in shock at Poseidon and Percy. Of course, Poseidon looked familiar. Percy looked just like Poseidon. "Oh shit" I cursed and sheathed my sword. "Hey dad" Percy greeted Poseidon, who happens to be my father. "Well, hello. Looks like you have your hands full with your sister" he teased. "More than that" Percy reolied., glaring at me. Eeps! He is going to kill me. I looked down at the box in my hand and grinned at him. His eyes narrowed. Before he could do any damage, Poseidon interrupted. "Percy, I would like to speak to Stacey. In private". Percy nodded and went out. I looked at my father. Father? It felt so weird to call him that. For now, I'll settle with Poseidon.

" So, what did you want to talk to me about?" I ventured. He sighed and looked at me with a weird expression on his face. Was it pity? "Your arrival at camp, has well...has ignited Zeus' temper. I had promised not to let you set foot at camp, but..." He trailed off. "What do you mean by promised not to let me set foot at camp? Did Zeus know of my existence before I came to camp?" I asked him, bewildered. "I think you should ask Chiron or Dionysus. I don't have much time. But I came to tell you something. Zeus wants you to come to Olympus. He wants you for an audience with the council" he replied. "When?" I managed to whisper. "Day after tomorrow" Poseidon said. The look on my face must have shown how shocked, confused and scared I was, because he smiled and told me, "you need not worry. Zeus won't kill you. And best of luck with your chariot race" and with that, he vaporized into the air. I walked out of the stables in a daze. I was going to Olympus. Zeus was angry with me. He might possibly kill me. Oh, and not to forget, even Percy wants to kill me. Oh, well. I guess that's the life of a demigod.

JASON POV

The morning of the chariot races. There was lots of hustle bustle near the starting line. I had already reined in the wind spirits, checked the gear and oiled the wheels. Nico was standing and fidgeting with his sword. I looked around and saw Piper coming towards me. She was looking really beautiful today. "Ready guys?" She asked us. I nodded when Stacey came up to us, a sly look on her face. She raised her eyebrows at the wind spirits and said, "I'll have to admit. Its cool. Wind horses". " So you admit defeat?" I asked her. "In your dreams, Superman" she laughed and walked away. Chiron called everyone to their positions. Piper kissed me and went to join her siblings in the the spectators area. I climbed the chariot. I was defending while Nico was controlling the chariot. Suddenly the conch horn blew and we started. Hardly after a mile or two, the first attack came from Stacey. A spear pierced the air near me, barely a centimeter away from my ear.

I turned around to see Stacey standing at the back of her chariot, poised for her next attack. I directed a blast of air near her. She almost lost her balance but regained it. She grinned at me and threw something. It landed near my foot. I looked down and saw it was a bottle if Greek fire. I quickly picked it up and threw it in another chariot which happened to be the Hermes chariot. The Stoll's jumped out of their chariot before it blasted. I noticed at the last minute that Stacey's chariot was a little too close to us. Before I could respond, she set the horse reins on fire. Ghost fire. "Hast la vista, Grace!" She shouted before overtaking us. Nico shouted something at me. I saw the reins were slowly burning and the wind spirits were getting free. I looked ahead and saw we were only a yard or two away from the finish line. I directed a huge gale of air and the chariot pushed forward. We finally reached the finish line and the chariot toppled on top of us. We had reached after Stacey. I groaned and tried to get out from under the wreakage of the chariot. Nearby, Stacey and Sam were celebrating. Chiron came forward and announced, "the winners of the race are, not one but two cabins. It is a tie!".

Our friends helped us out of the chariot. I got up, dusting myself and grinned at Stacey, who was standing openmouthed. I laughed. The expression on her face was priceless. "I'll have to admit, that was pretty nice" I told her. "Well, even you were not so bad, Grace" she said, shaking my hand. "Could you not call me Grace. I have a name, you know" I told her. "That's what irritates you, so that's what I will call you" she replied. Gods, that girl was annoying.
