Stacey Pendragon-daughter of the sea

Chapter thirty three

ANNABETH POV

"Please do not tell me you went against my warning. You didn't go, did you?"

"Umm, maybe..." I heard Stacey reply cautiously, and I held my breath, anticipating Chiron's next words. "You were not supposed to be there!" I heard Chiron shriek, yes, shriek.

"I know, but I didn't..." Stacey mumbled, so softly, I had to press my ear even harder through the door to hear her clearly. Yup, I was eavesdropping. Why, you ask? I never do such things, but today was different. I don't know what actually happened, but since morning, Percy, Nico and Stacey, all three looked worn and dragged. Even before breakfast, they rushed to Chiron and spoke a few words to him. I couldn't hear them, but I was sure it was bad news, because all the color drained from his face.

Right now, they were bundled up in Chiron's study, the door locked. What annoyed me even more was that Percy never spoke a single word to me, even when I asked him. I was going to find out what the deal was, and I would, in any way!

Percy's voice broke through my thoughts, startling me. "Why did she choose today, and why just the Underworld?"

"She did not want any interruptions, so that's why she chose the morning of the Winter Solstice. It is the only day Hades is allowed to Olympus, and the place she was cursed at first. To complete the ritual, it needs to take place in the place it all began, the person you are linked to. Stacey was what she wanted, and she got her!" Chiron replied, his voice indicated how pissed off he was.

"How did she know my real name! No one knew it!" I heard Nico cry, who was this she?

"She makes it her business to know all about her enemies and their acquaintances", Stacey sighed. I was burning to know who this she was? "So right now, I've got a freakingly, crazy, hard to kill lady doing my background check just 'coz I'm your brother?" I heard Percy ask, a tinge of annoyance in his voice.

"Yup!" Stacey responded, popping the 'p'. Was Percy in danger! Again? Can't a demigod live in peace? Ever?

"Is there no way we can solve this? I mean, everything has to have a solution", Percy asked, and immediately, Stacey broke in, " No, Percy. There is nothing" she said, stressing the nothing.

"Oh come on! There's got to be something!!" Percy exclaimed, exasperated. There was silence for a minute or two until Chiron spoke up.

"There might be something. But it could be very difficult", and my ears practically pricked up. "What?" Stacey shouted, and I covered my ears at her voice.

"Softly, child. I'm not sure if it will even work, the gods can be unpredictable at times", and he paused. " Chiron, just tell me what is it! I'll do anything, just to...just to redo it all!" I could hear the desperation in Stacey's voice, and my eyes narrowed. Why was she so... I couldn't describe it. It was like she was scared and it was because of her.

"You will have to go to Hecate's temple", Chiron answered.

" Why?" Nico asked, and Chiron sighed. "There is someone there who can help you. But Stacey, be careful if you're going. She can be...unpredictable".

" Who is this mysterious she?"

"I can't say, but I'm sure she will help, though..."

"Thank you for the vote of confidence, sir", Stacey acknowledged sarcastically. "So this counts as a quest?" Percy enquired.

"Could be. We can't count on the Oracle for a few hints. She's out of the picture", Stacey sighed. "Why?"

"Titania's got hold of it now" and I froze. Titania? The woman who we met on the quest. That explained Stacey's fright, but how exactly did she get hold of the Oracle? Wait, was she the person who was finding out all about them, even Percy? Suddenly, I felt a spark of anger inside me. Stacey had mentioned that Titania kept tabs on her enemies and their friends, which ment Percy was in danger, all because he was close to Stacey.

No, I couldn't let it happen. I had already lost him once. I couldn't risk it again. Stacey could go on any quest she wanted, but Percy would not go with her.

"Who do you want to take with you? You are allowed two partners" Chiron stated. "Of course Percy and N..." Stacey started, but I swung open the door and stormed in. They all looked up and were shocked and surprised to see me, no doubt a murderous expression on my face.

Chiron was standing in horse form, and Stacey was seated in front of his desk, a stricken expression on her face. Percy stood next to her, his hand in her shoulder while Nico stood with his back against the wall, his arms folded on his chest as he glared at the ground.

"Annabeth, what..." Percy started, but I furiously cut him off. "You, Perseus Jackson, are going no where!" I shouted, and Chiron gaped at me.

"What's wrong?" Stacey stood up, looking at me. "You are not taking Percy any where! He stays here, and only here!" I shouted at, her temper rising. Her eyes widened, and she whispered. "H... How much did you hear?"

"Enough to know your plans! There is some lunatic behind Percy, just because he knows you! He could die, and I will NOT ALLOW IT!" I don't know from where that possessiveness came to me, but enough was enough!

"Annabeth, are you alri..." Percy asked me, but I held my hand up to shut him up. "No more, Percy. No more".

" Annabeth, what makes you..." Stacey said but I cut her off. "Just stop it! I don't want another word from your mouth! Its just since when you came here all this started!" She looked as though I had slapped her, but I didn't care.

"Hey, don't talk to her like that!" Nico spoke up for the first time since I entered. I narrowed my eyes at him, and snapped at him. "Nico, don't interfere!"

"Its not her fault for what's happening, Annabeth! Stop acting childish!" Nico snapped back, and I gasped. "Did you just call me childish?"

"You heard me. Stop pressuring her for things she can't control!"

"Nico..." Chiron said in a warning voice, but I had had enough. I grabbed hold of Percy's wrist and dragged him behind me, ignoring his protests.
