The Uprising

Chapter Six

Chapter Six:

POV GIAUS

I can only say that the meeting with Nico and the other cohort leaders ends soon after Eliza and I arrive, and Nico’s explanation for the sudden arrival is he wanted to see Hazel again and needed a change of scenery. Which I thought it was a bunch of schist, as a leader I read people’s body language well and as usual he was hiding something. But I keep this to myself and find it wiser to not confront Di Angelo, such a thing would literally bring hell on you.

I walk with my arm extended to Eliza with her arm looped around mine and we walked out. Eliza complains about feeling faint and I can feel her grip tighten and loose almost rhythmically and I know she’s not kidding, “I’ll get you to cohort house and there you’ll be able to rest.” I tell her.
She starts to breathe heavily and between breaths she explains, “Even though, I was, asleep, I don’t feel like, I slept, at, all.”
“You just are overtired then.” I tell her.

She breathes harder and faster and kneels forward to the ground. She explains to me that the breathing hard keeps her from falling asleep standing, and to get her heart pumping, and that I shouldn’t worry. “I’m, just, so, tired.” She says.

I decide that I am going to carry Eliza so I sweep her up in my arms and carry her. She holds no objections as her arms wrap around my neck and hides her face in my neck. Eliza’s touch nearly melts me and her short quick breath sends chills up and down my spine.“Thank you.” She whispers in my ear.
My chest swells and cannot answer with my voice and just nod as I carry Eliza to the cohort house.

When I come to the door I use my side to push the door open and everyone inside is messing around getting started on the day. Everyone looks up from what they are doing and just stare at us: Eliza doesn’t move, but her breathing slows. I step inside as one of the cohort members, Jack a Descendant of Bellona asks, “Is Eliza alright?”
I walk in and lay Eliza on her bed and her body relaxes, and her eyes are closed; she’s asleep.
“She is just overtired.” I reply.

I hear a couple of snickers and I look up with my natural expression and everyone stops and waits for me to give the orders.
I wait to look around at them all, “Alright!” I bark,”Get up! Laps in five!” I clap my hands, “Let’s move it! Let’s go! Let go, LET’S GO!!!”
