The Original Character Court

Lea Reclin

(This has a different format from the previous reviews)
Submitted by: Knight of the Gods
Name: Lea Reclin

Appearance:
Lea has a dusting of freckles across the bridge of her nose. The are very light and almost unnoticeable , since they are only about one shade darker than her skin tone.
Lea has darker freckles (almost like unraised moles) on her forearms, they range from the size of sand granules to bebes.
Her hair is perpetually knotted and strands stick out of her ponytail haphazardly. She has tons of split ends and ‘frizzies’ which she braids out of her face and then tucks the braids back into her ponytail.
[Yeah, if you knot it a lot, you'll have those.]
Lea has some golden brown highlights in her hair from being out in the sun so much, she hates these but doesn’t know what to do about it.
[Good explanation. Also, hair dye, love.]
Despite having had pink streaks in her hair, Lea has never let bleach come anywhere near her, although she’s lazy she doesn’t want to do anything that would actively damage her hair, especially not at the price of beauty.
[Ah. Nevermind.]
Lea has extremely thick eyelashes, they are beautiful but she’s not such a big fan because an eyelash often gets into her eye while fighting and she abhors that.
[Realistic and inconvenient. Nice.]
In addition, Lea also has very thick eyebrows, (think Lilly Collins) and she used to let them do whatever they wanted cause SDGAF but after the Aphrodite cabin waxed them they are in better shape.
[Ouch.]
Lea’s nose had been broken a couple times, so its slightly warped to the left, nothing noticeable until your look for it.
[Good explanation. Also realistic]
She has very defined cheek bones, she doesn’t even need to contour them since there is a natural shadow there already.
[To anybody else reading this, yes, this actually does happen. One of my exes was like that.]
Her skin tone is naturally a common caucasian color, but she spends so much time outside its now a beautiful golden brown tan (she has a terrible tank top tan line) but she gets sunburned all the time since she never wears sunscreen (the oiliness makes her break out).
[Also realistic]
When she was in the underworld her skin tone almost completely faded making her look pale and saturated.
[Makes sense.]
Lea is extremely muscled, like a professional boxer, she’s lean but heavy due to the amount of muscle. Her arms are especially toned, since she does pull ups almost every day. Her grip strength is also extremely strong. During the summer, her ‘training season’ she does vigorous workout training sessions everyday. She feels socially pressured to keep up with the demi-god kids, despite her lack of stamina and the fact that she is easily fatigued.
[Oh my. She needs to take breaks. And her body-build matches what she does.]
Lea tries to fight with both her arms and her legs equally, balancing the number of kicks and punches, but she is more prone to use her arms.
She has very broad shoulders, she kind of has the body style that is a mix between a boxer and swimmer.
She is extremely flat chested, and despite the fact that this may lead to less males finding her physically attractive she doesn’t really care, she figures they’d probably just get in the way and have added weight.
[It is possible for those parts to shrink a bit when a female works out a lot. The fat gets burned. And yes, they are inconvenient at times.]
Lea hardly ever walks anywhere, she jogs primarily. Its faster and its a work out. She feels like walking is pointless and too slow, she like to keep her feet off the ground as a sort of practice for sparring.
Lea suffered through two years of braces and corrective mouth gear, when she was in fifth and sixth grade, so she gained the perfect smile (orthodontically speaking) but she didn’t wear her retainer, so now her teeth have slightly gone back to the old position having the canine teeth protruding a fraction further in front of her front teeth, resemblant to Yaeba.
After talking with Percy about it, Lea decided that if she were to choose an achilles heel, she would choose the part of her head where she ties up her ponytail. It would be guarded by a thick layer of hair and be in an untouched place. Not exactly graceful or poetic, but functional.
[I can picture your character pretty well. Good job.]

Bio:
Lea Reclin was born strong. Her father left her mother as soon as he found out she was pregnant.
[jack-ass]
From the day Lea was born she only had her mother. However, this never put a damper on Lea’s fierce spirit.
[You go girl]
Her mother, Noel, was an equally strong woman who worked as a Real Estate Agent. Noel spent the first few years of Lea’s life solely raising Lea but after a while Noel went back to working, not for the money but for the feeling of being useful. Lea never knew much about her father, only that he was a good but busy man who sent checks every month to keep the family well off.
[But why'd he leave? IDK if I'd call him a good man. Yeah, it's cool that he sends checks but he shouldn't just be money. The kid needs his presence too! Sorry, my dad left me too.]
Lea was a receptive child, being bright and playful. She grew quickly both physically and mentally. She was clever and charming and altogether a likeable girl. In her first years at school she excelled at art and passed in social skills but failed dreadfully in anything to do with mathematics.
[Everyone has their weaknesses.]
By age six she had already been diagnosed with dyscalculia, the difficulty of learning and comprehending arithmetic. Some of the children would tease her for her inability to count or her mistakes on math homework, but whenever they did Lea would show them later during PE just how remarkable she was. Lea had a an aptitude for all sports, especially those involving running such as soccer and baseball and soon she was top of her class. She primarily bonded with the males at school due to a common interest in extracurricular activities and it would be extremely accurate to call her a ‘tom-boy’.
By the age of seven Lea had settled into her life and skin well, she was comfortable and she felt no need for a father figure. Her mother, however, thought differently. The next thing Lea knew her mother was married to a man named Henry. Lea resented her new step-father immediately. She found him an unnecessary disturbance in her perfectly good life. After a few outbursts on her side, Lea began to see Henry for what he was; positively amazing. He was the dream dad; he played guitar and sang, he liked pizza and movies, he was fun and cool, and he loved to play sports. Within the next few months Lea grew to idolize him, perhaps falling more in love with him than her mother had. He was the father she had never even dreamed she could have. He worked for a publishing company and taught Lea how to read quickly and effectively, he took her to summer camp, he took her out for ice cream. They automatically grew very close.
[Great guy. And it's natural to feel resentful towards a potential step-parent. The interaction was realistic]
Lea’s life grew difficult around the beginning of middle school; her dyscalculia was growing worse and despite Henry’s attempt to help her she began to fail multiple classes. Her friends at school dissipated and worst of all she hit puberty. Now granted puberty itself wasn’t so bad, but the self esteem drop and the confusing hormones and emotions are what really got to her. Life had been simple before she felt attracted to her guy friends and vise versa. Now with that weird sexual tension between guys and girls, her friend group dissipated. Lea, who never really fit in with girls, was left alone without friends. From there the world didn’t stop throwing curve balls.
At the beginning of her eighth grade year Lea was attacked by the daemon Lamia, who posed as the ice cream woman. After being attacked Henry, who turned out to be a demigod son of Apollo sent her to camp-half blood. She was claimed as a child of Morpheus with a new tattoo to prove it. From there she trained further developing her combat skills. After a few months at camp Lea was summoned on her first quest; she would have to travel across the country and kill Nyx; her grandmother.
[I'd ask why but there's a story.]

Personality:
Lea is strong independent and clever. She stands up for herself and voices her opinion easily, sometimes even upsetting the gods with her spitefulness and sarcasm. But underneath the mask of indifference Lea is scared, she feels like she is being used by the gods. She has been told by many that she is just a pawn, used by the gods to see if they can send out their weakest link and still win. She’s extremely co-dependent on her friends needing them for moral support and she crumbles under pressure. Without her friends, she feels so isolated, alone and useless. But she’s a warrior at heart, she would sacrifice everything (and she does) to save those that she loves. By now she is desperate and worn out praying to escape for the life that was thrilled to have just a few years ago. She’s emotionally, constricted and lethal. Probably the most dangerous demigod out there,
[I'd prefer it if you didn't say that bit.]
you’d never see her coming. Actually you would, she’d call your name, say something witty, high five her best friend and the cut your head off.
[cute]

Fatal Flaw:
Lea’s fatal flaw is co-dependency. She thinks she needs friends for moral support and she crumbles under pressure. When she is alone she has such little faith in herself that she rarely tries at all.
[That is pretty dangerous]
Abilties:
Oneirokinesis: Lea has the ability to manipulate dreams
Hypnokinesis: She also has the ability to forcibly induce sleep. She can manipulate dreams, put people to sleep and send physic messages through visions and much more. All of this power is expressed through pink energy known as ‘energy essence”.
Weaknesses:
1.ADHD: Lea can never stay put. Her brain or body is always somewhere else. Very similar to Percy’s case.
[Similar to ADHD kids in general.]

2. Dyslexic: Just like any other demi-god she can’t read for the life of her. Numbers and letters practically dance around the page taunting her. Sometimes if she concentrates hard enough and squints she can make out what it says, but it gives her quite the headache.

3. After she sacrifices her immortal lineage Lea experiences extreme fatigue, she is easily out of breath. She is much weaker and her stamina has decreased dramatically. She can no longer can fight for hours on end, a few minutes at most.
[This is very dangerous.]

Weapons:
1. Tantibus: Sword made from Imperial Gold and Celstial bronze melded together in the forges of Hades. The hilt is made from obisdian and silver woven together, and is embedded with three pink rubies blessed by the goddess Persephone herself. In the blade there are four half-circle ornamental cut-outs. The Sword transforms into a small gold disk with three rubies which can be strung on a necklace chain.
2. The Daedalus Shield: A shield forged by Hephaestus himself, designed by Daedalus and later given to Lea as a reward.
[for?]
It is made from celestial bronze and has the ability to shrink to a size small enough for Lea’s back pocket.
[cute]
3. Celestial Bronze Forks: Lea prefers to use throwing forks,
[wat]
instead of knives, to attack from afar. Her friend, Ava, a daughter of Hephaestus, forged her some special forks to use on her Quest for Nyx.
Trivia:

  • Lea is terrified of being judged by her peers [matches her fatal flaw]
  • Lea sometimes compulsively steals [*cackles*]
  • She has a sweet spot for young attractive actors and members of boy bands. She REALLY likes boybands. It’s a guilty pleasure. [*judging her music taste*]
  • Lea is scared of anything romantic/sexual. She is aromantic. [Probably scared of anything romantic but not necessarily sexual since she's attracted to boys. Yeah, just scratch of the sexual part.]
  • Lea really loves children’s TV shows, she appreciates their simplicity and enjoys that they don’t have the twists and turns of reality.
  • In grade school Lea would always cheat on tests.
  • Lea is a surprisingly good cook.
  • Lea is slightly afraid of cats, she finds them hard to get a read on. [Cat-person over here.]
  • Lea is very good liar and story-teller. [nice]
  • Lea is slightly allergic to peanut butter, it gives her a migraine. [peanut allergies are one of the most dangerous allergies. And they would probably give her a little more than a migraine.]
  • Lea has a fear of turnstiles, rooted from a traumatic childhood experience.
  • Lea had to defeat Nyx, who is actually her grandmother.
  • Lea has Eremikophobia (Fear of sandpaper) [Why?]
Comments:
One of the most detailed, well-balanced characters I have ever read. There are a few errors and/or clarifications but passable since there's still a story that explains the rest.

Final judgement: Isles of the Blessed
No surprise there. Great job!
