The Original Character Court

Moria Golez

[My sleeping schedule is so screwed up and once again, I drank too much coffee.]
Submitted by: Child_of_Minerva
Basics
Name: Moria Golez
Age: 13
[careful. Usually, these OCs don't act their age.]
Gender: Female
Birthday: January 13
Ethnicity: Half Filipino, half caucasian
Hair color: Dark brown, usually mistaken for black
Eye color: Blue
Height: 5 feet, 2 inches
Weight: 97 lbs
Other physical descriptions: Moria is skinnier than she’d like to be. Having the metabolism of an athlete, she always seems to be hungry, but she’s one of those people who could eat a whole horse and barely gain a pound.
She has long thick hair, like her mortal mother. Moria finds it bothersome most of the time, seeing she has to have it yanked back in a ponytail, but she likes the way it falls down her back.
Moria also sports a few burn scars on the outside of her left thigh from experimenting with Greek fire. Luckily, she got her pants off in time.
[Interesting, detailed physical description. Realistic and practical.]

Sexual orientation: Heterosexual

Personality
Positive traits: Moria is a very gentle person when she wants to be, which is always. She treats everyone like family when she's in a hospitable mood, and she tries to make more friends than enemies.
[That's cute. I'm serious! It's a cute personality.]

Negative traits: Like her godly parent, Moria is very quick to anger or frustrate. When she’s mad, her face turns a certain shade of red, and her friends can’t help but laugh(though that just makes her mood worse).
[Oh my (nonexistent) god.]

Other personality traits: Moria has an ever changing mood. At one second, she could be screaming at someone, the next, cool as an iceberg. She also is very talkative.
[Okay, now that sounds like my Filipino friend Mina. I mean, I don't want to generalize or stereotype but it really does sound like her. Could just be a coincidence, though.]

[Personality seems balanced and interesting. I like it.]

Fears/Phobias: Frigophobia, the fear of cold. When Moria was younger and didn’t have a house key, her mom got caught up at work and couldn't come home on time to let her in and forgot to make arrangements one day. It was the middle of winter in Chicago, and Moria had a case of frostnip. Not very severe, but she was about seven at the time. It seemed the north winds were against her.
[Yikes.]

Fatal Flaw: Moria would rather follow her heart than her head. She lets her feelings take control in dire situations, and she forgets to use logic.
[Man, I really want to see this girl with another OC, Selene Rivera. They both have Filipino blood but they're polar opposites. Selene follows her head and Moria follows her heart. It would be really fun to read.]

Family and Background
Godly Parent: Notus
[Nice.]
Mortal Parent: Katherine Golez
Other relationships:
Theo Clark, son of Hermes:
Theo and Moria knew each other since they were in kindergarten together at Belding Elementary. Until sixth grade, they had been inseparable year round. Then, Theo found out he was a demigod, and went to Camp Half Blood every summer. He didn't realize his best friend was also a demigod until his mom accidentally let it slip. Moria and Theo are best friends, and polar opposites, but opposites attract.
[They could have more in common than they think. Anyway, well-explained relationship, good.]

Candace Safin, half sister:
Moria had thought she was an only child, but when she found out her father was a Greek god, she dreamed of all the siblings she would had. Instead, Candace was the only other demigod in their cabin. Candace is older than Moria by more than three years, and she’s more powerful and skilled, which makes Moria secretly jealous. The two sisters fight often about the silliest of things, but Candace is always there to help Moria, mostly grudgingly though.
[Nice, realistic. Okay good.]

Backstory: Ten months before Moria was born, Moria’s mother went to Cancun for spring break to visit her family there for a few months. She met Moria’s father Notus(since he spends spring break in Cancun), and they fell in love. Katherine Golez knew the father of her only child was a Greek god, but she never mentioned it to Moria. The mother and daughter pair lived in Chicago, where they met Theo and his mother, Belinda. Theo and Moria became instant friends, which forced their mothers to talk. Belinda could see through the Mist, and she and Katherine found out both their children were demigods. Katherine put off telling her daughter she was a demigod, wanting to spend more time with her, but at some point she had to tell Moria.
Before she had the chance, storm spirits attacked Moria's school, and Theo had to lead Moria to safety. Katherine quickly told Moria her father was a Greek god, but Theo had to take Moria to Camp Half Blood. There, Moria was claimed, and her life as a demigod began.
[interesting backstory]

Combat-related questions
Camp: Camp Half Blood
Weapon of choice: She carries around small vials of Greek fire. All she needs to remember is to screw the lids on tightly. She learned that the hard way(the scars). Moria came up with this idea on her first day at camp when she saw the torches outside of Cabin Thirteen. She had a child of Athena help her find all the supplies.
[Seems too risky and impractical which seems to go with her personality but you never know. I suggest keeping the Greek fire as her back-up or extra stuff but don't make it her main weapon.]
When she runs out of Greek fire(which she prays to the gods she never does), Moria uses a Celestial Bronze dagger from the weapons shed.
[maybe make this one her main weapon. Not the Greek fire.]
Powers and Abilities: Pyrokinesis, the ability to generate and control fire. She only has a low ability to do this. For example, moving around a candle and extinguishing and relighting a flame. Since her father is the god of the south wind and opposite of the north wind(with snow and ice), she has a small control of heat.
Also, she has Aerokinesis, but in small doses. [define small doses] She can only generate and control wind, not fly like Jason. Though, both her powers tire her out easily, so she doesn't use them a lot.

Comments:
Very interesting character. If there's a story, please link me. I genuinely want to read it. Though, powers and abilities, can you outline the limits of the aerokinesis? Like, what do you mean by small doses?

Final judgement: Elysium (but only becauses of powers and abilities. You're good in everything else.)
