My Life as the Daughter of Poseidon: Book One: True Me, True You

Sandstorm

I raced through the water, pushing through the forests of kelp. Today was the day we left for the quest, but we still didn't know what "the deep blue's bird" was, so we were hanging out by the beach, hoping the inspiration would come. I swam over to the shallow water, and waited for the tingle in my legs that signaled I was losing my tail to pass. I stepped out of the water to where Annabeth and Alex were talking about Greek myths and other prophecies. "So any ideas on the bird thing?" I asked. "Well, I've had this idea in the back of my head... deep blue's bird? The ocean's bird? Birds fly? Swimming like flying? Manta rays!" Alex yelled, surprising Percy and making him punch the side of his sandcastle. I looked at the bags of provisions sitting on the beach, looking very sad. Like they wanted us to hurry up and take they on a quest. All of a sudden, a large navy blue shape that looked like somebody had dropped a big rock on some poor bird came swimming towards us, but not close enough to get stranded on the beach. "Wait, you both are related to Seaweed Brain, but how am I supposed to breath?!" Annabeth said. "We'll figure that out when the time comes," Tsunami said. "Let's go!"

It turned out that whoever sent the ray to us had put a spell on it so Annabeth could breath. We had grabbed our stuff and swum out to the ray, climbed onto it's back (which was not easy) and waited as it took us under the sea.

Cue background music from Ariel

De seaweed is always green-a, in somebody else's lake
You dream about going up dere, but dat is a big mis-take,
Just look at the world a-round you,
Right here on dee oc-ean floor
Such wonda-ful tings a-round you
What more is you lookin far
(da da)
Unda da sea, unda da sea,
Darling it it's betta, down where it's wetta, take it from meeee

We passed kelp and seaweed forests reaching upwards towards the surface, sea turtles grazing on the ocean floor, coral reefs filled with color.

But that was the good stuff.

We also saw sunken ships leaking something black and watery, ghost nets floating through the water, trash buried in the sand.

No problem. I honestly love the story. Sure the chapters are short, but you got a good plot. :)
