Tears and Flowers

I opened my bedside table drawer and pulled out my dagger and looked out of my window.
"It's time."
I swirled on my dress and strapped on my sandals.
"You can do this."
It was my second sunset, and the pain of the first had left me on the floor of the shrine and my head spinning.
"Let's do this."
I stepped out of my cabin and I was instantly hit with questions from the back.
"Where the hella' you going?"
It was several Aphrodite and Ares kids.
"OMG! That outfit is SO 3,000 years ago!"
"More like so idiot years ago!"
Damn those stupid Ares kids. As you may guess, I took off running.
Maybe they would just leave me alone........
No such luck.
"Get her!"
Faster, faster!
"Hurry up!"
Quicker, quicker!
"I said get her, and get her now!"
Run!
Crashing through bushes, jumping through creeks, swirling 'round trees, I did it all. The sweat poured off of my face, my stomach cramped and my heart pounded.
My stomach was in knots and I was almost there. I could see the pines in the distance. I swung around a tree and I was there. Hoisting myself up, I hiked up my skirt and went branch after branch up the pine tree that was closest to me. When I reached the top, I sliced off the top of the tree in the middle, and blew it out of my palm, and my vision tunneled into darkness.
