Camp Hogwarts

I Get A Shiny Bow

I woke up the next morning, after a night of fitful rest, haunted by You-Know-Who and dreams of a not so peaceful demigod world. Will was sound asleep, snoring, so I didn't bother waking him up. Instead, I headed to the Hermes cabin, where Harry, Ron, and Hermione were staying. Harry was awake, playing with a necklace thing. I sat down next to him, hoping that he wouldn't scream and beat me up with his extremely powerful magic. Luckily, he just glanced at me and turned back to the locket, sighing. I knew that I hadn't experienced grief anywhere near his, so I didn't even pretend to understand. When I didn't say any consoling words after ten minutes, he seemed to think I had passed some sort of test.
"You're the first person I've come across who hasn't asked me any questions about what it's like to be such a hero, or told me how sorry they were. Except for Ginny," he smiled sadly, "but she didn't speak to me for the first four years of Hogwarts." He looked down at the locket again. I nodded and we shared some more silence.
"What are we looking for?" I finally asked, to break the silence. He put his head in his hands.
"I don't exactly know," he admitted. I coughed.
"What do you mean, you don't know?" I asked, trying not to get impatient.
"Well, there are these things, called horcruxes," he started. "And Vol--um--You-Know-Who decided to use them to keep him immortal..."

After Hermione woke up and pulled Ron out of bed, Harry and them went to get their things ready while I woke up Will, who woke up Nico. Chiron had us all sit around the Ping-Pong table while Percy and Annabeth stumbled towards us, still bleary-eyed. "Okay, demigods--and wizards," Chiron added politely. "You are about to go on your most dangerous quest yet. Yes, that includes the one where you were off to defeat Gaia," he answered when Percy raised his hand. "You are going to have to work with someone whom you have not known before yesterday to defeat an unknown villain using unknown magic. Stay safe," he warned, looking at us warily. "I still say three is the best number, but alas, we are doomed to eight. I have a gift for you, Lena." Everyone seemed to recognize that this was a private moment, and so they stepped outside and tried to get to know each other.
"You are quite powerful," he spoke quietly. "But all the others, especially Percy and Harry, are powerful as well. The Death Eaters are incredibly strong. You'll need this." And with that, he handed me a golden bow and silver arrows. "The twins gave them to you. Guard them well, and use them sparingly. I trust you have your sword with you?" he asked. I nodded. "Then go."

Notes
