Random stories

Percy came home early from work, well he came home early every day (his boss, let him leave once he finished everything he had to do) but this was earlier then usual. He smiled but when his eyes said he was upset about something.
Our son Charlie ran I and hugged him " daddy can do you wanna help me build a Lego tower?" He asked. Percy down his work stuff.
"Sure" percy answered
" this will be the best tower ever!" Yelled excitedly. I watched Charlie pull Percy to the living room were there was a five foot tall replica of the Empire State Building. Every time Percy tried to place a block Charlie yelled " no daddy that piece goes here".
Eventually Charlie got frustrated and told Percy to go away.
"What's wrong?" I ask as Percy comes into the kitchen
" you know me too well" he says
" so today at work I was performing surgery on a sea lion that swallowed a fishhook, and I wasn't able to save it." He tells me
" oh no that's terrible" I say
" It gets worse" he sighs
"Mom!" Our 14 year old daughter Zoe runs in with her long blond hair pulled back in a pony tail
" what is it?"
"'Can I go to Sara's house?"
" Sara Grace?"
" yeah"
" sure, be back in time for dinner though"
She runs out.
"Go on Percy "
" when my boss found out, he was really mad, because all of the surgeries done today failed. None of our marine biologists or doctors could save any of the animals. So he took his anger out on me? I was fired"
" oh no, Percy that's terrible"
" what should we do? "
" why don't you look for another job and in the meantime, I'll just take on another project at work."
" but your already designing two schools, and a hospital"
" I'll be fine, I'm new York's best architect."
" I don't want you over working yourself though"
" I won't"
We hug and go get dinner ready.
