The Temple of Fate

Chapter Two

My day started normal. Or should I say as normal as it can get at Honorary Falls High.
Not to mention all the blowfish here but the school was founded by these bigots so we have a code of honor and civility to uphold. See its this “progressive school” that helps troubled kids like me.

I never saw the purpose of the school but apparently it works. So far, not school suspensions and no signs of expulsion in sight. This could probably work out for the best. Not considering I end up getting in trouble by the end of the day.

Me and my big mouth . . .

The first thing that happened as I walked into school was the school bully caught a whiff of me. Notice how I used that word there. I’m so sly like a vocabulary fox. But yea, I seriously think this kid is part bloodhound. He always seems to know where I’m at and if I’m around.
Some people are just weird like that. I mean sure I’m weird in the whole, I don’t like sports, not very good in school type of way. But this kid is weird as in creepy weird.

“Hey there Brason.” Jake smirked as he knocked over my textbook. This kid was seriously becoming the bane of my existence.

I was beginning to think whatever all-mighty power worked its magic on the world had it out for me.

“It’s Jason. You know that too Jake.” I exhaled. “We’ve only had class together ever since what middle school? Idiot.” I smirked as I bent down to pick up my books and he suddenly kicked me oever.

“Oh no,” Jason ridiculed, “Brason here had a little accident. Come on little worm stand up and fight back. Or are you too weak to do that too?”

I rose to my feet and exhaled one more time. He wasn’t worth it. A voice crept into my head. He isn’t worth it. Leave him. Don’t involve yourself with the likes of him. It’ll only bring you displeasure.

I brushed it off and walked away. Jack frowned and screamed at me. “Hey!” He grabbed my shirt. “I’m not finished with you!”

This time I didn’t take a breath. I just looked at him. A cold hard gaze with an image in mind as to what I was going to do to him. For the past semester this kid had picked on me. He had teased me and ridiculed me. Now it was time for some payback.

After a minute his face changed from aggressive and competent to mortified. He released me and backed up leaving more than enough room for a car between us.

“Stay away from me you freak!” Jake raced off into the school, as I glanced behind me to notice a girl, someone I had never met.

For the remainder of my day, I had a pretty easy approach. Not much had happened and from the looks of it whatever scared Jake off must’ve stuck. He didn’t even make eye contact with me in P.E.

After lunch, I had Math class. The same girl from before appeared this time. I was in awe that there could be a transfer student so late in the semester. Let alone the school year. Sure, it was Winter Semester but still the probability of even being accepted was amazing.

Poking my friend’s, Devon, shoulder I asked him. “Have you ever seen that girl before?”

“Who? Oh her, yea? I think her name is Ana something.” Devon replied.

I smirked. “Very helpful genius. But I’m certain I’ve never seen her a day in my life until today.”

“You might need glasses cuz she’s been here all year long.” Devon smirked as he continued working out some problems from the board.

Focusing more on my own problems, I gazed up at the board and squinted to try and make out most of the equation. Nothing. Everything looked like alphabet soup let alone an equation.
Accepting yet another defeat, I put my head down and waited for Devon to give me his paper in order to copy the answers.

Class ended on time and for the most part the mystery girl kept on shooting me a look.
Just two more classes until I get to go home. I thought to myself.

“Yo, J!” Devon smirked. “We got another A!”

“More like you did. All I did was copy.”

“Don’t sweat that. Some people just aren’t meant for school. At least you’re trying. Besides you’re ahead of the game. Most of this you don’t actually need to be successful.”

I nodded unsure if that was a compliment or an insult. When we reached Mr. Richards class all we had to do was answer four questions on the board and the rest was just free time.

Again the same girl was in our class and for the life of me, I couldn’t imagine she would be in my favorite class of the day.

Mr. Richards was this great Greek and Roman Art teacher. He would always have us do weird but fun projects. I remember once we had various cities we had to present and me and Devon got tasked with the city-state pf Sparta. We dressed up as Spartan warriors and brought in fake swords.

I had even been so intrigued by the class that rarely ever fell asleep in it. I knew everybody there, but here this mystery girl shows up and I have even the slightest idea of her name. Let alone who she was.

After class ended, there was only one more class. Literature. The worse of my subjects. I didn’t just suck at math. Nope I had to be a well-rounded academic depression. I just sucked at school.

You see and guess which one of the people followed me to almost all of my classes. Mystery Girl!

She popped up again, this time she actually looked at me in the eyes. She held transparent green eyes. And her hair was black. This time she did me the favor of sitting in front of me. But that didn’t change my curiosity one bit.

I had no need to know who she was, but it did creep me out that she was the on anomaly that changed everything in school. That was until I asked to go to the bathroom.

Ms. Saxby agreed but she sure wasn’t happy about it. I did my business as usual. Then I began to hear strange noises. Disturbing noises for the average high school teen.

Washing up quickly, I raced back towards the class room just to notice some kind of animal let loose in the school. It looked like an overgrown dog. From the looks of it: Bloodhound.

Then it got closer and I noticed three things. Its teeth were razor sharp fangs. It had three pronged claws. And well the eyes on the dog weren’t typical dog eyes. They were glowing yellow.

In a brisk movement the animal charged at me as I quickly dove for the nearest door frame.

Notes

Another quick chapter. I'm gonna try and see if this one can stick. I like this idea and i'm sure the story will be self contained so maybe it can live up to something good. I don't know tell me your thoughts on the story. What do you think of the premise so far and the way that it's going. This is supposed to be a relatively short story.

Oh and the dream in the beginning supposed to mean something. Although you might have to wait to see what I mean. Anyways next chapter we get introduced to the mystery girl let's see what she's all about and how bad ass can she be? Please please guys and girls if you like the content like, share, subscribe do what ever it is you do on this site. And thanks for reading once more.
