Early

Piper was ready for sleep, for once in her life. Usually, demigods dreams were terrible. After Gaea fell, though, Piper almost always had good dreams. So after dinner, she kissed Jason goodnight and went straight to the Aphrodite cabin.
When she came back from the quest, her siblings were all so nice. Aphrodite kids aren’t often seen as strong, so Piper was proud to show the true strengths of love. Piper knew how corny that was, but she didn’t really care.
She went over to her bunk and sat on her side, her face turned towards the wall. There were pictures of her dad, mostly from movie posters. A picture of her, when she was little. A picture of all of her friends, including Nico, but except Leo. They took it about a week after they defeated Gaea.
The chatter of her siblings died down as they went to sleep. Soon, Piper drifted off as well. There was only one dream that night. Piper drifted through nothingness for a while. It felt like around 5 minutes, but Piper knew that time was fluid in dreams.
The nothingness morphed into fog. The fog morphed into clouds, floating in a blue sky. Piper immediately thought of Jason. The clouds grew away and above her, and she could see the ocean and bits of land below her.
Somewhere to her left she heard a hum. She turned to the side and saw festus flying through the sky. Festus. Piper squinted to see, but it was too far. She was pretty sure, though, that two figures were on his back. Leo kept his promise, and was coming home.

Piper woke up with a gasp. Everyone around her was still asleep, so it was probably pretty early. She swung her legs over the side of her bed, and pulled herself up. She got ready quickly, though she wasn’t making a particular effort to.
She strode to Zeus’s cabin. He wouldn’t be awake yet, but she wanted to tell him. He was right! She peeked into the room. He was snoring lightly, and, strangely enough, reminded Piper of a cat.
She tiptoed to him and poked his nose. He scrunched his nose, causing the scar on his lip to rise. “Whus goin on? Venti?” Piper laughed, a little sadly. “No. I had a dream that I need to tell you!” Jason sat up on his elbows, and squinted at Piper.
“A dream? What happened?” Piper smiled wide. “I saw Festus. I think he was carrying Leo and Calypso. Their coming back.” Jason caught her smile. “Told you. Do you know where he might’ve been? When he might come back?”
Piper shook her head. “No, but I think he’s close. He’ll come back within this week, I can feel it. We’ll have to tell the others!” Jason sat up now, looking into Piper’s eyes as if they were the most interesting thing in the world. “That will be the last bit of proof we need.”
“What about you,” Piper inquired, “Did you have any dreams last night?” Jason tilted his head a bit. “I… no, I haven’t had many dreams at all since defeating Gaea…” Piper nodded, “Same for me. Why do you think that is? I mean, the quest started from the second I learned I was a demigod. Do demigods that aren’t on quests always have this few?”
Jason shook his head. “No, I always have a few bad dreams. What about everyone else?” “We’ll have to ask them… Anyway, go back to sleep. I’m gonna go train, I guess.” Jason took her hand. “Wait. I wanna spend some time with you. Uh, let me get dressed real quick? It’ll take, like, five minutes.”
Piper smiled at him. “Of course. I’ll wait by the sword arena.” She got up and left the Zeus cabin next to Jason. They broke off as he went to the restrooms. She went straight to the sword arena. She picked up an old, chipped long sword. It was clearly an old sword, used for training a bunch. She didn’t mind.
She looked around. It was early, and no one was awake. If they were, they weren’t training. There were a few dummies up. They weren’t often used, as they weren’t the best for training. She walked up to one.
It was made of a branch that was stuck into the ground. At the top of the branch, a burlap sack filled with straw sat. Someone had drawn a frowny face on it with a sharpie. She smiled at it, then raised the sword. It was made of normal iron, but it still glinted nicely in the sunlight.
She whipped her sword across the front of the dummy. Straw tumbled out, but not very much. She jabbed, which was strange with the long sword. She swiped in an x shape, then rolled behind it and stabbed it’s back.
She stood up and patted the dirt and grass off her. She walked back to the front of the dummy, and swiped again. Left, right, left, right, slash, slash, slash. Soon, she had shredded the dummy to strips of burlap and small pieces of straw.
Piper wasn’t even sweating. She looked around. Jason still wasn’t here. How long had it been? She rested the sword against the dummy’s branch, and whipped towards the front of the arena, about to leave through the little opening in the fence.
But something stopped her. She narrowed her eyes and listened a bit. Why was she on edge? There was no way a monster could be around. No way. There was a barrier. She hurried to the restrooms. Was Jason okay?
She rushed up to the men’s half, and was about to bust in when Jason walked out, almost right into her. “What are you doing here? I thought you were training… hey, is something wrong.” Piper gasped for air. “N-no. Something just really freaked me out.”
Jason raised his eyebrows. “Something freaked you out? You? What was it? Did you see something? You’re okay, right?” Piper managed a laugh. “Yeah, I’m fine. Calm down. It was probably nothing.”
“So you didn’t see anything?”
“No, I didn’t see anything.”
“You didn’t hear anything?”
“I heard nothing out of the ordinary.”
“But you felt something?”
“Yes, I did.”
“Holy crap, we should alert Chiron.”
Piper blocked Jason’s way. “No! I told you, it’s fine now. Everything feels fine now.” Jason frowned doubtfully. It was all incredibly out of character, Piper thought. Jason was usually calm and collected. “Okay. I believe you,” Jason sighed.
