It's Not Too Late: A Percy Jackson Fanfiction

Chapter Two

I went to my cabin and fell instantly asleep, despite my sibblings chatting away. I woke up later and it must have been really early, because everyone was sleeping. I tried to go back to sleep, but I coudn't seem to do it. For how smart I usually am, my idea probably wasn't the best for a lot of reasons. I got out of my bed and rubbed my eyes. I opened the door to the Athena cabin and slipped out. I hurried my way over to Cabin Three, not wanting to wait. I could only hope he was awake. I knocked quietly on the door and heard his footsteps. The door opened and Percy stood in front of me wearing dark gray sweat pants, and a black tee-shirt. He looked cute, and I could tell he was already up before I came.
"Annabeth?" His face was suprised. "What are you doing?"
"I just, I couldn't sleep, and I-"
"Annabeth, come on in." I walked through the doorway. The lights were off but It was beautiful, with seashell designs and ocean-like decorations. It seemed like waves of water were reflected on his walls, like in a crystal clear swimming pool.
"I just felt lonley, and I had a feeling you were going to be awake."
"It's good to see you." He sat down on his bed and gestured for me to sit also. I sat.
"Percy, I have to tell you something."
"Okay," he stared into my gray eyes.
"Percy Jackson," I said looking right into his eyes. "I love you." I've wanted to tell him for a while, and I never had the courage. I just never wanted to mess it up.
"I love you too."
"No, I don't think you under-" That's when he leaned in and kissed me, not on my cheek, on my lips.
"I do, and Annabeth?"
"Yeah?"
"I love you, and I do understand. I've wanted to tell you for a while now, and I just-"
"Never had the courage," Percy and I said at the same time. In that moment, his hands met mine, and he laced his fingers through mine. We were staring each other straight in the eye, but it was a little to dark too see. I let go and wrapped my arms around his neck and he held his hands on my waist. His outstanding green eyes closed as his face came closer to my face. We kissed and layed down in his bed.
"We can get in trouble for this."
"What did we do wrong?"
"We aren't supposed to be in the other people's cabins," I replied.
"But, it's worth it, and it was your idea, Wise Girl."
"Oh, just shut up and kiss me, Seaweed Brain. I don't care what happens." And he did. We layed in his cabin holding hands until we fell asleep. When I woke up, I was laying on my side, and my leg was overlapping Percy's leg. He was laying on one of my arms and my other arm was folded over him and holding his hand still. The sky was still really dark, like it was still early. It must have been around two in the morning when I came. I looked at Percy's alarm clock, and it said it was 5:30 in the morning. I got out of his cabin, careful not to wake him up. I ran back to the Athena cabin and got back into my bed. They were still all asleep that I knew of. I don't think anyone saw me, and if they did, they didn't say anything.
"I woke up and got dressed for the day. At breakfast I sat with my sibblings and ate quickly. Today we get to pay capture the flag. I am so excited, and I know Percy is too. Last night was unexpected. Percy and I were definatley more than friends now. We kissed, held hands, and slept in the same bed, but it's not like anything happened. What was yesterday? The twenty eighth of June? I didn't put much thought into anything this day. I just really wanted to kick the red team's sorry butt. I know I'm already gonna be on the blue team with Percy. I always am. Later in the day, and we got ready to play, everyone was buzzing with excitment. We got out armor on and gathered our weapons. I kept my dagger with me at all times anyways, and Percy, he actually can't lose Riptide, his sword. Whenever he drops it somewhere, it will eventally end up back in his pocket. Chiron told us all the rule, like usual even though we knew them already. Then we started. Percy and I were more of a team ourselves. We played a fair game and we tried really hard, but we didn't win the game this time. That made Percy and I mad, but nothing could spoil our mood. At the camfire, when they were singing songs, I kissed him. This made a girl from the Aphrodite cabin give me a death stare. I almost laughed, it was so ridiculous. I guess she likes Pecy too, but sweetheart, I'm not going to compete with, nor and I afraid of Barbie. When it got late, Percy walked me to the Athena cabin and kissed me goodnight. I was definatley in a good mood despite losing to the red team. Percy and I did the same thing as we did yesterday night. I snuck out and went to his cabin, fell asleep and snuck back into my cabin around five in the morning.
"I woke up around 8:00 and got ready. I pulled on some black skinny jeans with rips in the knees, and my orange Camp Half-Blood tee-shirt. I brushed my long, curly blonde hair. Outside, the sky was a dark shade of gray. Which was weird because we usually have controlled weather here. Zues could be mad, or something. Percy was closing the door to Cabin Three. For some reason, we both wore our Camp Half-Blood tee-shirts, and black pants. He looked like he didn't sleep, his hair was a mess, his face was pale, and his eyes had dark circles.
"Hey, Percy," I said.
"Hey, Annabeth," Percy mumbled.
"Did you get trampled by some pegasi or something?"
"No, why?"
"You look awful." I hadn't meant to sound so mean.
"Gee, thanks," he rolled his eyes. "I just didn't sleep very well last night."
"Did you sleep at all?"
"I couldn't. I-"
I looked at him, staring him deep into those marvelous green eyes, "Percy, what's going on?"
"You want the truth?"
"What else would I want? Tell me," I said.
"I had a dream.. I was back in New York and my mom.. She went into this guy's house, and she didn't come out.. Paul didn't know where she went, he's looking for her. He was gone for days. I don't know what this means, but I got his house number, and street name."
"How'd you have a dream if you didn't seep?"
"Well, I slept for a little while. Annabeth, I have to save her."
"Come on, let's tell Chiron." I took his hand and pulled him towards the Big House. Nobody was in there, not Mr. D, no one.
"Where is everyone?" I looked around, and couldn't answer his question. Not until now. Down by the forest, I could see campers all gathered around in a circle.
"Look!" I pointed towards them, and took his hand again. We shoved our way past Satyrs, and demigods. In the middle of the crowd, a girl with sandy, stringy, blonde hair lay in the grass. Blood was splattered on her clothes, and her face. Deep, severe cuts covered the poor girl. Nobody dared saying anything. Chiron and Mr. D were staring at the girl. Chiron kept on glancing from the girl to the horrifyed crowd. Each and every single one of the children of Ares were bowing down on thier knees. Clarisse La Rue, was dead.
