When MYTHS Become Real

"Mnemosyne, my dear, you've done well," the shadow rumbled as I sashayed up to it. My arms wrapped around the thing's waist and a chill went down my spine. More monsters and titans slinked out of my puddle until the room was buzzing with hostility.
"I told you that you'd be back without waiting a few thousand years. And everyone you hate is all gathered around, ready for you to destroy."
"You are devious. All of our spectators are speechless."
I grinned devilishly. "Yes, they are. It was quite a surprise to find Naida like this. And she's already taken them on quite a rollercoaster."
"Enough!" Zeus boomed. Lightning flickered across the sky, making my red hair static-y. A couple of the campers jumped and even the goddess Hera looked annoyed as she patted her light brown hair down.
One of the titans growled but the shadow held up its hand to stop him. The others grew more agitated and the gods were seething. Only the shadow, who was starting to grow larger and more distinct, and Mnemosyne seemed relaxed.
The dark entity chuckled. "You, son, are no longer in charge. The age of gods is over. It is time that titans once again rule. As for you, demigods, you will be given the choice. Fight with us, or die with your parents."
Another bolt of lightning cracked, aimed at the shadow and his titans. A large scythe appeared on his hands, easily cutting down the lightning before it could strike. The king titan, who I now realized was the father of the gods, Kronos, swept the weapon in an arch the Zeus barely dodged away from. That was the only spark anyone needed for a fight. Poseidon
flourished his trident so that the fountain exploded and sent a giant, deadly wave at us. It only took a slight flick of my wrist to freeze it into an ironically beautiful ice sculpture. But I guess Percy got dad's hint because before the structure was fully frozen, I got soaked with fountain water like my stupid brother turned a fire hose on me. I gasped in a sharp breath and turned to level a glare at him.
"Sorry, sis. It had to be done." Oh, I agreed with him on that, but I was still going to get back at him if we ever made it out of this mess.
Soggy shadow Kronos growled. "You will be the first to die, Percy Jackson!"
That's when things took a turn for the worse, as if they weren't already bad enough. The titans descended on the gods while the smaller monsters went for the campers. I walked cool as a cucumber to my ice throne and perched on it to watch the show. I was
freaking out but I couldn't do anything with Mnemosyne still controlling my body. I sat and watched as a kind of pretty woman with giant sunglasses covering the top half of her face and a scarf wrapped around her hair and draping over her shoulders stalked toward Percy and Annabeth.
"Percy, isn't that-" Grover bleated nervously.
"Scary lady smells bad."
"Hello, Percy Jackson. We meet again."
"Medusa, I thought you were gone for good, or at least a few centuries."
Medusa? This woman wasn't what I pictured when we were having a debate in my history class. Her smile at Percy's recognition was cold and murderous. I could understand turning hard after eons of being cursed, but this was something else. From where I sat, the vibe I was getting was nothing but evil bitch. It turned my stomach to think my dad had slept with her (you
know, more than that kind of thought usually would).
"Today is about second chances, Percy Jackson. My second chance to kill you and Annabeth Chase."
Percy was incredible, I had to give him that. He and Annabeth fought together but he was totally protective of her. I knew it had to be hard, fighting something they couldn't look at, but they were both pretty bad ass. I was itching to do something to help the campers who were getting ridiculously outnumbered.
"Oh, no, Naida, you just get to watch," Mnemosyne whispered gleefully.
I groaned when the ghosts appeared-I'd had a bad experience with ghosts before- so it took me a minute to realize that they were fighting on Camp Half-Blood's side. It took even longer to see that they all write orange shirts, meaning they'd been demigods in a battle when they'd died, probably the
last fight with the titans a few years ago judging from how familiar they were with my friends. And Lord Almighty, those ghosts hadn't lost their fighting edge.
"No," my leech snarled. "I've had enough of your boyfriend."
We shoved from the cold throne and drowned to the midst of the battle. My hair clip came out of my auburn locks and Mnemosyne flipped open the icy sword I always had I me. No one opposed her as she stomped to Nico and the blade swung down in a lethal arch.
Panic engulfed me. My heart stopped. No. She couldn't take him away from me again. I fought desperately to gain control of myself. The scream worked its way up my throat and for just a moment, my own few and power broke free. “Nico, look out!”
He turned in time to raise his black Strygorian iron blade as my sword crashed down on it. My muscles screamed as Mnemosyne and I battled for my body. She was stronger than me so I could only pester her as she tried to kill Nico.
“I’m not going to hurt Naida,” he growled.
She laughed. “Good, then that makes this so much easier for me.”
She spun and hacked at him in an impressive move that took me almost all summer to master. Luckily, Nico had been my sparring partner at Camp so he was ready. But this wasn’t practice. Mnemosyne was really trying to kill him.

just a side note, this chapter is exactly 1000 words. I thought that was interesting.
