Starting Over

The golden fire that blazed in the night teased me. Everyone was happy and excited and I was sitting by my self with Sunny next to me. I wasn't really in the mood for s'mores tonight, mostly because of my birthday tomorrow. No one knew about it and I was hopping no one would. I got sick of the singing and laughing after five minuets, so I wandered over to my cabin. I went inside and came out with the CD player, the Swan Lake CD, an old tarp(we kept it in case of emergencies, what emergency I had no idea) and my ballet slippers. I set up my own little stage and put on my slippers. Sunny sat patiently on the ground with his head tilted slightly to the side. I played the CD and began to dance. I had just finished my solo when I herd some clapping. I turned to see it was Nico. "I didn't know you took ballet." I just smiled. "I've been dancing since I was four. I stopped going right before the school year ended because of money problems." He just nodded. "Um, no offense or any thing Nico, but how long have you been there?" "I saw you leave the campfire and wanted to check on you. You dance beautifully."

"Thanks. Want to learn?" He blushed like crazy. "Err, um, well-" "Come on!" I grabbed his hand and began to showed him some basics. He was kind of off beat. Actually, completely off beat. At one point, he fell hard on his butt and cursed in Italian, "Cazzo!" I assumed he thought I didn't know the language fluently. "You shouldn't say such bad words." He looked so shocked I thought he was going to faint. "My mom was originally from Italy and moved to America when she was twelve. My brother and I speak Italian. Sorpreso il mio amico?" I helped him up on his feet and he just laughed. Not the kind of sullen quiet laughs I was use to him giving, but a lighter and happier one. I laughed along with him and told him to try again. He did a little better, but Nico still stumbled. After a while, he gave up and sat down next to Sunny. I set the CD to the last scene in Swan Lake and danced . When I finished, Nico clapped and Sunny barked.

I sat down next to them and began to change back into my sneakers. "Why does your cabin have a tarp?" "I have no clue." We laughed again. Nico helped me put everything away and we had every thing back before the campfire was over. "Fiona, I'm leaving tomorrow." I jumped up and stared at him. "Why? Where are you going?" He got up too. "I'm going to go stay with my dad for a while. I just wanted to say bye to you before I left." "But your going to miss my-" I cut myself off and stared at the ground. "Your birthday." I looked at him and I guess I showed that I was confused. "Tyler told me about your birthday before he, you know. That's why I wanted to talk to you. Happy Birthday." He pulled out a small box out of his black leather jacket and gave it to me. I opened it and saw a beautiful purple necklace with a black chain instead of sliver. I pulled it out it see that the clasp resembled a bone. I put it on quickly. "I love it! Thank you." "I'll see you later Fiona. Be safe." With that, he patted Sunny and walked away. He melted into the shadows and left a cool breeze behind.

"Come on Sunny." I got into the cabin and began to get ready for bed. I put my hair in one large braid laid down on Tyler's bunk. I began to cry. Sunny began to lick my cheek but I just cried harder, so he settled next to me with his head in my chest. Nico was like a brother to me, and now he was gone. I had lost two brothers within one month. I never felt more alone in my life. I cried myself to sleep. I woke up and I was in my living room in my house in Delaware. Okay I know I sleep walk sometimes, but this was crazy. "You're still sleeping sweetie, I just summoned you." I turned around to see my dad was standing next to a women who looked his age. She had brown eyes and her brown hair in a braid over her shoulder and was wearing a silver headband. She was wearing a silver shirt and light blue denim jeans. "Hello my niece, you have grown so much." "Artemis?"

"Yes my dear. Apollo told me about your question referring to your hair. Before your mother 'changed'," she said changed like it held sweet memories that were nothing now. "-I was actually pretty found of her. So, I blessed you and your brother to have the same midnight blue hair as your mother." "Of course I wasn't to found of that, but it's not like they would of listened to me," I liked how he didn't sound bitter, but amused. "Thank you Aunt Artemis. So, all of Apollo children have blonde hair?" Dad answered me. "Most of the time blonde, rarely red, and even more rarely midnight blue." He laughed and my aunt rolled her eyes. "Any way Fiona," Artemis began. "We wanted to say happy birthday to you." "Oh yeah! We would of done it tomorrow, but you'll have your hands full." I was really confused but my dream was fading. "Thank you, but what do you mean? What's going to happen?" "You'll see soon enough. Goodbye sweetie." My dream was becoming less and less visible. "Thank you guys. Goodbye." I woke up with a little startle.

None of my siblings were up yet, so I took a shower and put on a camp shirt, dark denim jeans with pumpkins on the pocket and black boots that came up to my knees. I unbraided my hair, so it was curly and bounced every time I walked. I sat on Tyler's bed until my siblings woke up. They all said good morning and got ready for the day. We waited until everybody was ready before we went to the pavilion. For breakfast I had blueberry pancakes with strawberry syrup and orange juice. All of the plates were cleared before I herd someone yell, "Look!" I turned and nearly dropped. A boy was walking towards us. He had on a black hoodie, a brown backpack, dark jeans and timberlands on. He had short shaggy midnight blue hair, hazel eyes and a smile that could light a room up. "TYLER!" I ran towards him. He knelt down and I jumped in his arms. He picked me up and swung me around.

"Tyler! You're back! You're back! You're back!" "I missed you too." I herd Percy and Annabeth behind us. "Hey Tyler!" "What happened?" "I'll tell you guys later. Right now, I have to celebrate my sister's birthday." He put me down and I saw faced him. Sunny jumped on him and licked Tyler, then Tyler pulled Sunny off of him. He pulled of his bag and pulled out a large box and handed it to me. Instead of opening it, I just hugged him again. "Don't you want to see your present?" "Your alive. That's my present." He just hugged me again. My brother was back. As soon as Tyler got up, he was tackled by Annabeth, literally. He was on the ground and she had her knee in his chest. "Why in the name of the gods would you ever scare us like that?!" I looked at Percy. "Is she always like that?" He just laughed. "Once, I went missing for three months and the first thing she did when she saw me was judo flip me. Does that answer your question-wait? It's your birthday?"


"Yeah. I turn eight." "Well, I think we should properly celebrate!" "I think we should wait until after your girlfriend stops yelling at my brother." Tyler just ruffled my hair. Rachel, Calypso, Leo and Chiron had came and Leo, Calypso, and Rachel hugged Tyler too. Chiron had shook his hand. "It's great to see that you're alive Tyler." "Good to be alive Chiron. Oh yea, almost forgot." Tyler rummaged through his bag and pulled out another gift box. He opened it to reveal a tiara that said "Happy Birthday Fiona" with Happy on top and Fiona on the bottom. He placed it on my head. Leo seemed to beam at me. "It's your birthday? Time for the Leo to get things pumpin'!" "I call decorations," Percy beamed as they ran off towards the arena. Calypso, Rachel and Annabeth took off after him. "Leo! She's eight!" "Seaweed brain, her favorite is not blue!" "Don't you boys dare put up a single decoration!" We just laughed really hard and Chiron said he would see us later.


Brandon, Carl, Amber and Marry came over to hug Tyler too and they all gave me a smile when they realized my crown. Marry jumped up and down. "A birthday girl! You need a birthday outfit! Amber, lets go!" The girls took off towards the camp store and the boys went to the shooting range. Tyler and I just walked Sunny. "So what happened?" "I was out for a week before I woke up. A demigod told me that the hospital was ran by demigods and they kept me until I was well enough to leave." "Did you stop by our house?" "I did. I even got all of our things we left behind and brought them here." "Cool. Race ya to the shooting range!" I took off. "You're suppose to be a princess today!" "Yeah right!" He ran after me and, since it was my birthday, I won the race.

(After Dinner Time)
"You look like doll!" Amber was adding glitter, that smelled like bubble gum, to my hair. Marry was taking so many pictures that I thought she was going to run out of space on her camera Leo gave her. The dress they gave me was long with long sleeves. The shirt part was separated with a silver ribbon. Skirt was ruffled and poufy and has glitter all over it. My shoes were mini silver heels. I wanted to wear make-up, like real princesses, but Marry and Amber said not until I turned sixteen. I had a wand and the crown Tyler gave me from earlier. Marry and Amber lead me to the arena. Amber walked in and said, "Ladies and gentle man, your princess has arrived. Introducing, Princess Fiona!" Marry led me in everyone was smiling.

The arena had pink ribbons all over it. There was a dance floor with a with a disco ball over it and a DJ table. There was a table behind the dance floor that had a cake that was a foot tall with pink icing on it and a number eight candle on top. Everyone had on royal attire, even Chiron had on a vest and Mr.D was wearing tux. We danced for a long time and then Calypso blew a conch shell to get everyone's attention. "It's time to sing happy birthday!" Leo and Percy rolled my cake out to the dance floor and Tyler brought me a stool so I could blow out my candle. It was pretty much the best day of my life. Tyler helped me cut the first slice, which I smashed in his face. He took some of the cake and put it on my nose. Yep, the best day of my life. The furies where cleaning up the party mess, for some reason they wanted to do it personally. I was siting down with Tyler. "I think it's time you opened this." He handed me the box he gave me earlier.


I opened it. It was the most beautiful ballerina dress I've ever seen. It was knee length and was silky and came with leggings and ballet slippers. It was light purple and had silver lining to it. "I'm sorry you had to give up ballet. I know how much you loved it. So, I set it up with Chiron so you could take ballet classed two days a week. Of course your going to have to be careful and leave with someone, but at least you can go." I gave Tyler the biggest hug ever. "Grazie mille! Thank you so much!" I was so happy. "Come on Fiona, its time for bed." Tyler had our pajamas with him so we changed in the public bathroom. I was in a night gown so I was shivering when I got outside. Tyler was trying not to laugh when I got out and I was furious. He picked me up and carried me to the cabin. He tucked me in. "Tyler?" "Yes?" "Sing me a lullaby, please." "Okay."

I fell asleep knowing that I was safe. We had stared over. We had a new life.
