I was at boarding school and was really homesick. I needed to hear moms voice. It was at 10:00 in the morning. I called her and it rang twice before she answered. "Hello?" She said. "Mom! It's Alex. How's your job interviewing going?" I asked her. "Good! I have two more people to go before I get mine done so...what's going on with you?" she asked. "Nothing much. Science is in 5 minutes. Not very happy about that!" I joked. My mom laughed. Suddenly, I heard a loud gasp, then a crash, like glass and concrete breaking. I heard a beep. The connection was lost. "Mom? Mom?" I spoke into the phone. The bell rang. My bestie Carter looked at me. "What happened?" she asked. I told her what happened. "Maybe someone broke glass and she dropped her phone and it broke." Carter told me. "Maybe," I said. Something didn't feel right "Welcome class! We will start today's class with a documentury on the animal channel!" Mrs.Birch said. Mrs.Birch is my favorite teacher. We where halfway in between the video when the news turned on. They only do that if something VERY bad happened. "A terrible thing as happened. A plane sent on a mission ran into the World Trade Building. Firefighters are on there way to find the survivors. We have a list of a few people that the firefighters found dead while rescuing. Anie Gravioy, David Genver, Kendra Zaater, Dan Cecer, and Emma Draud. I am very sorry if one of your loved ones was named," the reporter said. When everyone heard my last name, the attention turned to me. I started crying. Never stopping for a breath. "Mom. Why did this happen?" I sobbed. Carter got up and gave me a big hug. Soon I was in the middle of the hugest hug ever. Everyone was hugging me. I squirmed out out and ran into the hallway. The last time I saw my mom was five months ago. The last time I saw her alive.
