The Librarian

I expected her to get mad or rage at me but she just smiled.

"If anyone's sorry it should be me!" She said, grabbing a napkin and rubbing some of the coffee out of her jeans. "I shouldn't have interrupted you two like that, you looked like you were having fun!"

Nico flushed and I could feel heat also rising in my cheeks.

"What do you want, Pipes?" He asked the girl.

"Nothing much, Jason and I are just grabbing some lunch, he should be around here somewhere..." She looked around the shop but he wasn't in sight. "I'll be back." She said, disappearing into the small crowd around the register.

"Wait... Pipes... Jason... Was that-?" I was slowly putting together the pieces in my head.

Nico nodded. "Piper and Jason. They've been in France for a while on the set of Piper's new movie but they're back now for the reunion."

My mouth hung open like a fish. "Woah." Was all I could utter before Piper reappeared, this time dragging a tall, blonde boy behind her.

"Hello, again." Nico greeted them.

"Hi." Jason flashed me a white grin, sitting down next to Nico.

"Are you going to introduce us?" Piper asked, plopping down next to me, a takeaway mug in hand.

"No need." I smiled, cutting off whatever smart-ass comment Nico was about to say. "My name is Kimmi Ye and I'm Nico's date to the reunion thing. I'm fully mortal and I work at the library across the street."

"Ah, so this is the girl." Jason said.

I gave Nico a look of confusion. "What?"

"It doesn't-" Nico began.

Jason cut him off. "The girl that he goes to the library every day to admire, the girl that he only just got up the nerve to talk to, the girl that he's been crushing hard on for about a month."

I was speechless, I hadn't even noticed Nico until the day before.

"I think it's really cute that he finally got up the courage!" Piper said.

Nico gave me a shy look over the table, his cheeks still red. "I think it was really brave. I'm not exactly an approachable person." I joked, he gave me a relieved smile.

Piper set down her mug. "Well I say if Kimmi's coming to the reunion then she needs a new outfit! How about you boys go do boy stuff and we'll meet up at Percy's later?"

Jason exchanged a look with Nico and they reached a silent agreement. "Sure, you two go ahead!"

Piper grinned and took me by the hand, pulling me out of the booth. "Now for some shopping!" She announced.
