The Librarian

Piper had been pulling me down the street for what seemed like forever, until we paused outside a clothing store.

"These are cute," She mused. "I wonder if they're having a sale?"

"Let's go find out, then." This time, I dragged her into the store. They had the cutest jeans and skirts, with loose tops and fitted blouses that matched my taste.

"I love this place!" I covered my mouth. "They have my favorite kinds of dresses!"

"Ooooo..." Piper ran over to the rack, grabbing dress after dress and throwing them at me. "Let's try them on, shall we?"

I grinned. "Let's."

We ran towards the fitting room, giggling at ourselves. We kept tripping over the trailing ends of the piles of dresses, resulting in massive piles of clothing on the floor and a laughing girl on top of it.

"My goodness," A sweet voice said. "What do we have here?"

I looked up to see a pale, tall woman with dark curly hair standing in front of us.

"Mom." Piper's mood immediately went down a few notches.

"Hello, darling." Aphrodite smiled. "Need assistance?"

"We're doing just fine, thank you." Piper shoved past her mother, who grabbed her arm.

"Not so fast, honey." She beckoned with her hand. "Let me see what you have."

"This is my shopping trip, MOTHER. I am an adult now, you can't dictate what I can and can't wear!" Piper complained. Aphrodite drew away with a pained look on her face.

"If that's what you want, sweetheart." She glimmered, then vanished into thin air. Piper stormed away, muttering words about her mother.

"Wow." I whispered, picking up my dresses and running after Piper's retreating figure.
