The Librarian

I finally caught up to Piper's pace. She was muttering some not so pleasant things about intrusive mothers...I decided not to ask.

"So how many things did you get?" I asked softly, running a hand through my lavendar hair. She stopped in front of the fitting rooms, throwing the clothes into the bin next to a mirror in the tiny space.

"She has the NERVE to try and ruin yet another one of my shopping trips!" Piper complained, her face contorting in different waves of emotion. She noticed the look on my face and promptly shut up.

"I'm sorry, Kimmi." She apologized, a half smile twisting its way onto her face. "My mother just doesn't give me the personal space I ask for sometimes."

"It's okay," I shrugged. "She must love you though, because she keeps coming back."

"I suppose." Piper's voice dripped doubt. She turned around from rearranging her clothing choices on the hooks in the dressing room, looking at me holding onto all my clothes.

"Go on!" She waved her hands towards an empty stall, slamming her door shut with a smile.

I spun on my heel, staggering awkwardly into the room before losing my grip. Everything in my grasp tumbled to the floor. I sighed, picking up one thing after another, hanging them on the hook, until I finally had some space to maneuver.

"How's it going?" Piper yelled from the room opposite me.

"It's going alright..." I shouted back, grabbing a shirt off the hook. "My sanity is, too." I mumbled to myself.

"Let me know if you find anything good. I want to see." Her words were broken with giggling.

"What is so funny?" I asked, a grin spreading across my own face.

"I found the most ridiculous thing ever to hit fashion."

"Lemme see it!" I tugged on a tight shirt and poked my head out of the dressing room. Piper was standing in a short dress...but it wasn't tight or figure flattering in any way.

"I look..." She gasped for air, laughing harder. "...like a BOX!"

I covered my mouth with my hand, trying to hide the loud peal of laughter that ripped from my chest. It didn't work.

"Wow." Jason had apparently walked around the corner, followed by Nico. "You look..."

"FABULOUS!" Piper flung her hands up in the air.

"That's one word for it." Nico snorted.

"I did find this awesome dress, though." Piper's eyes widened. "Do you wanna see?"

"Whatever you want, sweetheart." Jason smiled.

"Put something on, Kimmi! We can show ourselves off." Her eyes were huge, and full of amusement.

"Okay." Piper was having way too much fun with this whole shopping thing, I thought, turning back into my fitting room. I pulled down dress after dress, unsure which one I wanted to try on, until I saw a one shoulder, ruched black dress with a little bling along the top.

"Black..." I mused. "It looks nice, though." Despite any other thoughts I had, I tugged it on and stepped out of the room.

"Oh my gods." Piper stared at me. "It looks so cute!"

"You look amazing." Nico smiled warmly at me. I could feel heat spreading across my cheeks. I diverted my attention to Piper, who was wearing a short, dark purple ruched dress with a blinged out belt and shoulder strap.

"You look awesome." I complimented her.

"Question is...do we buy them or not?" She fingered the material gently.
