Blog Post 21

I open my eyes to a blinding light. I close them and wait for them to adjust. When I open them again I see a snow covered mountain, and a tall white figure standing a few yards away. Her hair is coal black, her skin almost as white as the snow, and her dress a brilliant baby blue.

Almost like Elsa, but with black hair. Her eyes are an icy blue, and they flash when she turns her gaze on me. "Ah. The Daughter of Boreas finally arrives." Her voice is like spikes. Khione.

"What do you want?" I ask, balling my fists in anger.

She laughs. "Always straight to the point are we? Well, to put it simply, I want you dead. But I can't kill you directly, after all, we have the same father, and that wouldn't look good would it? Your sister, Sabrina. She agrees with me."

"What does Sab have to do with this?" I say, getting angrier by the minute.

"Almost everything. I'm fueling her jealousy of you. You see, she doesn't have any special abilities, and when you came, the spot light was turned onto you, and left her in the shadows. In turn for making your life miserable, I will grant her power over snow, which no demigod has. She will be the most powerful demigod in history. Even that upstart Percy Jackson won't be more powerful."

"Wait. Did she light the arena on fire? And push me in the lake?"

Khione just smiles. "Oh. Oh that's just RICH." I say, rolling my eyes. I can feel my chest trembling in fury.

"You are weak demigod. You will never be normal, and will always be burdened with the curse." Khione says, a smug and angry look on her face. How she pulled it off, I have no clue.

I lung at her in fury, and she waves her hand, disappearing in a flurry of snowflakes, and I wake up in the infirmary. My eyes dart around the room, not fully believing seeing Khione was a dream. I'm trembling, whether it was from the dream, anger, or me almost drowning.

For the first time in my life, I feel cold. I sit up and pull the blanket at the end of the bed over me, and snuggle up under the covers. My teeth shattering, I make a desperate attempt to get warm.

I heard footsteps, and I turn around. "Your awake. How do you feel?" Percy asks, handing me a mug of steaming hot chocolate. "Like a block of ice." Between sips, I tell him about my dream. His eyebrows crease, and his lips curve down into a frown. Haha. That rhymes.

"Khione. What is it with that goddess? I'll be back with Chiron. Stay in bed, just in case." He walks out the door, and I finish off the drink, placing the mug on the table, feeling warmer. I close my eyes and think. Dreams and cold. The two newest things.

I had my first dream here, and my first taste of what it's like to be cold. I wonder if this is what normal people are like. What would it be like to be normal? In a few minutes I hear the clop of hooves, but stay where I am, so I can keep warm. I feel a hot hand on my forehead, and another on my wrist.

"She's as cold a ice. Get blankets, and another bottle of nectar." He whispers. An electric blanket is thrown over me, set on the highest temperature. I hear running footsteps as I start to tremble. But not from the cold. I could feel the freezing cold in my toes. They felt like the we're submerged in snow, and icing over.

I sit up, gasping. "Chiron. I, I can feel my toes. I can feel my toes." He turns around from the rack he was studying, and comes to look. He pulls the blankets back and touches my big toes with a needle

"Ow! Ow, I can feel that!"

"I'm not exactly sure what's happening, but this is good. Maybe eventually, you'll be able to walk again." He says, pulling the covers back over me. I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but my heart starts fluttering like a hummingbird. Could it actually happen?

I might be able to walk? Wouldn't that be a miracle. Exhausted, I lay back down, half asleep. I faintly feel a hot water bottle at my feet, and another blanket being placed over me. A spoon goes in my mouth and I taste watermelon sour patch kids, and fall back into a blissful sleep.

I didn't dream, thank the gods. I woke up, cozy warm, the cold all gone, and feeling needles in my toes. It hurt like the dickens. I throw the covers off as I sit up. I reach down and rub my toes, excited that I could feel them.

I then noticed the metal rods on the sides of my legs. Flat silver metal pieces going down both sides of both legs and connecting to a piece on my feet. There were bigger flat pieces on my feet and a notch for my heels.

"Does it feel weird?" I turn around, cracking my back, to see Forest.

"Uh, a little. I can't really FEEL it, so I guess." I reply, wiggling my toes, and smiling. Forest laughs. Have I ever mentioned I love her laugh? To me, when she laughs, it's like being hit with a flowery breeze.

"I guess not." She says with a smile. "But can you really feel your toes?"

I nod, and show her. She walks to the edge of the bed, and twists my ankles. I heard a pop, and pain starts coursing through my foot. I cry out, and reach for my ankle.

"I felt that! Ow! Geez For, ah." I say, massaging it. I pinch my foot with my finger nails, surprised that I could feel it. "Please get Chiron. Now. This is scaring me."

Forest runs off, and Sabrina walks in. "What do you want?" I ask, saying it more rudely than I wanted.

She smirked. "Eh. Nothing really. Sooo. I heard you can feel your feet now?"

"No." I lie.

Her eyebrows furrow together. "Really? Because Chiron mentioned it at the Campfire last night, and he wouldn't lie. And Forest was talking about it."

I roll my eyes. "Your a great liar Sab."

"Don't call me that!" She says as she clenches her fist. She calms down. "Well, I guess if you can feel your feet, then burning them won't hurt will it?"

She grabs a match from her pocket and strikes it on the wall. Powerless to prevent her, I watch as she slowly brings it closer and closer to my foot. I summon a tiny piece of air, and it blows out the match.

Sabrina frowns and lights another. I put it out. She goes through the whole box and has one left. Summoning air takes energy. And I'm all out. I lay back down, not wanting to see it, and wait for the pain to start.

I close my eye and clench my fists as my big toe on my right foot starts to burn. I hear footsteps and the burning stops as Sab forces nectar down my throat, healing the burn.

"I hear you can feel the rest of your foot now?" Chiron says, noting Sabrina's presence, and me.

"Well, sort of." I glance at Sab and see her rolling her eyes. "Oh for the love of, Sab, just leave!" She walks out, tossing her hair, and I continue. "I can feel everything but my heels so far."

Chiron scratches his beard as I throw the covers off and sit up. Forest hands me an empty goblet, and I ask for fresh lemonade, the sour kind from Chick-Fil-A. Yum.

Between sips, Chiron asks me about my feet, and the rest of my legs. I answer as best I can, and eventually he says I can go, and helps me into my wheelchair.

The rest of the day, Sabrina stalks me. When I go to the archery range, she's behind a bush, I'm at the arena and she's behind a dummy. I wonder if their related?

Near the end of the day before dinner, Forest helps we up I. The infirmary, supporting me while I try out this mechanical walker thing that's attached to my legs. It's controlled by a remote, and makes my legs move as if I'm walking. It feels so strange, I'm not sure how to explain it.

I haven't walked in almost a year, and now, being able to move my legs is almost like a foreign concept. Right foot, left foot. I grab the edge of a bed to support my weight.

"No. I need to stop. I can't do this." I say, sweat trickling down my forehead and hitting the floor with a splash.

"You can do this Trix. Come on. It's just your first try. Your not gonna get the hang of it the first time. Please? Just a few more steps." She gives me those puppy dog eyes.

I sigh, and grab her shoulder. I take seven more steps, and can't go anymore. Do you know how hard it is to relearn how to walk? Especially when you can't even feel your knees. At dinner, everyone is strangely quiet. I glance around the room, and see faces staring at me.

Even more confused, at the singalong the fire is green. Nervous. I see the faintest wisp of black in the flames, and in the air. I grab it, seeing a bloodied knife, and a faceless body in a flash. I let it go, feeling like an idiot.

I feel something wet touch my face, and look up to see snow falling from the sky. I instinctively grab my dagger and hold it so the blade it touching my wrist. A brilliant flash, and a burst of cold air. Khione is standing in the remains of the fire pit.

I hear Percy growl nearby, and I agree. She's my least favorite goddess at the moment. "I see the demigods have accepted the traitor. Ah, well I can't blame you. She does a great job of acting." I was ready to slap that French speaking, evil looking, snow queen, but Percy beat me to it.

He threw his sword like a shield, Captain America style, but it passed right through her. I summon a ball of air and blast it at her, shifting her back a little, but not enough.

She laughs. "Your little tricks won't work I'm afraid. Too bad. I wanted to keep you alive so I could kill you slowly, but I'll just kill you now." She jumps at me, and I pull the lever backwards, making me fly back, and almost run into the Big House. I dizzily look up, and see a figure rushing towards me, and another figure flying at Khione from the side.

I sit there, shell shocked. Percy leaps at Khione with his sword in his hand. Unable to move, I start throwing throwing knives. Ironic huh? Never mind. Where was I? Oh ya. I'm about to die.

Khione jumps at me again, with a dagger made of ice aimed for my chest. I push her back with a blast of air, and create a shield in front of me to block anything or anyone that comes at me. I can feel my energy draining, as I watch Khione stand up and walk towards me, tossing Percy away like a rag doll, with a malicious grin. She starts throwing ice balls, and ice daggers at me, weakening my shield, and also me. Breathing heavily, I make one last attempt to keep up my shield as she creates the largest ice dagger yet. She tosses it like a spear, aimed at my chest.

As soon as it makes contact, it explodes and so does the shield, throwing me through the brick wall, and Khione out of Camp. As the feeling returns to most of my body, I realize I'm not in my chair. Dust is covering my body, and not wanting to get dust in my eyes, I brush them off, coughing.

When I finally open my eyes, I see a massive hole in the wall, bricks strewn everywhere, and a light gray dust slowly falling like snow and covering everything. I sit up, sending a spiraling pain through my back. I lay back down, groaning from pain, and sighing. Why me? What did I ever do to deserve this? Seriously.

First, a building breaks my legs, Second, my legs get paralyzed, Third, the Chimera try's to kill me AGAIN, Fourth, I crash through a building and almost break every bone in my body, and quite possibly injuring my spine.

I sigh again, and cough from the dust. I can't stop coughing as the dust gets pushed up, making me have a coughing fit. I sit up, slowly this time and not all the way, and turn over, trying to relieve myself. I feel a hand on my back, making me shiver and sending shots throughout my body. I lay back down and look up into the face of....
