The Spear of Ares [on hold]

Chapter 2

"-I think he's waking!"

"-No, he shouldn't be, my charm..."

"wore off five minutes ago, you buffoon."

All these voices are floating around my head as I struggle to open my eyes. I feels like someone poured cement on them, because I cannot seem to open them. The voices, which are quite loud, might I add, keep on screaming and yelling until finally I get my mouth working.

"Can you shut up and help me?" I demand, making the room go quiet immediately. "Zane, can you hear me?" A voice asks quietly. "Yes I can. Now, I can't open my eyes. Please HELP!" I hear a bunch of grumbling, only catching a few words like 'Ungrateful', 'hateful', and some really colorful language.

But at the same time, I felt like the cement was being lifted off my eyes. Light floods my retinas and I blink a few times to adjust my eyes. I blink once more and look around. I'm laying on a bed in a room that's impossibly big. Big columns line every corner and these weird seats are arranged neatly in a U shape. I look at the people standing above me. They're twelve feet tall and wearing what looks like togas. It takes a moment for everything to click, but when it does, I almost fall off the bed.

"Oh!" I gasp. "Hello, Zane. Welcome to Olympus." A woman says curtly. I look at the woman. She has flowing black hair and ordinary brown eyes. Her mouth is set in an expression I know all to well. "Hello, Hera." I respond in the same tone. Hera's eyes flash, but she stays quiet. A god I recognize as Zeus steps forward. All the other gods melt back.

"Hello, Zane Hero. As my wife just said, Welcome to Olympus. We summoned you here for a special reason. Now, I would usually explain, but, this task isn't one for me to explain. Ares, please." Zeus gestures to a man I would immediately categorize as a bully. He looks like an ordinary 18-year-old, but I know better.

The leather jacket and pants were one giveaway. But they weren't the only. A wave of uncontrollable anger surges over me. I want to punch a wall. With shaking, clenched fists, I will myself to look at this person's face. He's wearing shades that are pitch black, but I can still see the fire burning behind them. "Ares, whadda want?" I say through clenched teeth.

Ares laughs casually. "See, kid. It's not that I want something, exactly... it's more of a need." "How convenient, I need something too. I need you to stop messing with my anger!" I retort, fighting my rising anger. Ares laughs again. "I like you kid. You got some nerve yelling at me, but, nevertheless, I like ya."

"Ares, get on with it and stop messing with his emotions." Zeus says, a tone of warning in his voice. "Oh, fine," Ares snaps and the surge of anger suddenly disappears. "See, a long time ago, there was a war between the gods and some giants. It wasn't a big war, nor were the casualties bad. But, while I was away fighting, something stole my item of power. Now, it wouldn't have been that hard to get it back, if I knew where it was. Whatever took it tore it into a bunch of pieces and scattered them all over the world. I need you to go and find it, restore it and bring it back to me."

All while Ares is explaining this, my head is spinning. Ares wants me to find his token of power? Oh great grief. "Really? And when am I supposed to start?" I ask sarcastically. "Tomorrow." Ares zings back. Seeing as I'm talking to the god of war, I know I have no other choice. "Fine. I'll go and find your stupid... what am I looking for exactly?"

Ares smiles. "The Spear of Ares."

Aww thank you. I do try my hardest. If you haven't read Redemption, you might want to try reading that too. This is kinda like a prequel to Redemption (idk what else to call it... its confusing)
