The Son of Death

Chapter 2

Emily
I rushed over to check his limb body, his breathing was shallow but at least he was breathing. I began to drag him towards the crest but before I was halfway another person, one of the campers I guessed, came running over.
“Hi, need a hand?” the boy asked. He had sandy hair and an astonishing smile. I was so taken back I forgot what I was doing and what I was going to say.
“Yeah, yeah sure,” I managed to say before looking down so that he couldn't see the blood rushing to my checks.
“What’s your name?” he inquired trying to look at my face.
“Emily,” I answered, still looking at my shoes.
“Ok then, well mines Leonardo, anyway let’s go,” he grabbed Eredos’s left arm while I grasped right arm and we carried him up the hill, “Let me guess, overexertion?” he said pointing at Eredos.
“Yeah, see that pile of dust,” I answered pointing over at the remains of the cyclops.
“Yeah?” he responded looking over his shoulder,
“That used to be a cyclops, Eredos did that just by touching him,” I explained, the boy just nodded and gave Eredos a sideways glance.
“Just by touching him?” he quizzed
“Yep,” I answered
“Interesting, I wonder if…” he pondered, before shaking his head, “Can’t be”
“What, what can’t be?” I questioned looking Eredos then at the Leonardo
“I’ll explain later, but you have better hope that I am wrong,” he said uneasily
“You better explain la,” I tried to replied but my voice was stuck in throat as we had just crested the hill and the camp was set out bellow me.
“O my god, it’s huge,” I said pointing at the camp
“Yeah and you’re going to love it,” he proclaimed, he then pointed towards a large house with a front porch, “and that’s where we are going to take your friend here,” pointing at Eredos.
I just nodded as the effort of carrying Eredos was incredibly challenging.
“I am so out of shape,” I thought to myself and looked at Leonardo who hadn’t even broken a sweat yet. We continued to walk towards the house and a few other campers came over and took Eredos off our hands. I hadn’t realised our tired I really was until I sat down on a chair on the porch of the house. I learned my head back looking around at the camp. There were cabins set in a circle formation all with different colour schemes and decorations, there was also a forest to the side, climbing wall, archery range, sword fighting arena and dining pavilion with a campfire. As I was studying the area Leonardo walked over to me.
“Want a tour? Your friend is all right for now,” he asked holding out his hand
“Sure,” I responded taking his hand and standing up.

Eredos
I awoke to the sound of classical music playing in the corner of the room. I was lying on my back looking at the ceiling in a small room. It was dark outside so I presumed that I had been out for several hours. On the table next to the bed was a small plate with a square of what looked like a brownie on it. I reached for and ate the whole piece in one mouth full. It tasted like the sticky date pudding my mum made for me before she left me. Just the thought of her brought tears to my eyes... She didn’t deserve what had happened to her. While eating it my body felt rejuvenated and full of energy, so I jumped out of bed and headed towards the door. Before I reached the door, the body of a horse blocked my path. I looked up and noticed that the top half was that of a man.
“Hello Eredos, I am Chiron, welcome to camp,” he said while looking my up and down as if assessing me. “Your friend Emily and Leonardo told me who you are and what you did to get here.”
“Leonardo?” I questioned
“Oh, I thought that you had met him before you passed out but anyway he is a son of Apollo and helped Emily carry you into the camp, and I hope that you will feel welcome here.” he responded.
“I hope so, and speaking of that, do you by happen to know where Emily is I need to talk to her?” I inquired looking out the windows in hope of seeing her.
“I believe that she will be at the campfire seeing how late it is, by the way you missed dinner but the ambrosia that you ate earlier should enough for tonight,” he proclaimed pointing first out a massive fire outside then to the plate next to where I slept.
“Ok can I go down to the camp fire now?” I asked Chiron looking out the window again.
“Sure I will be down there shortly I just need to check on some things upstairs,” he replied before turning around and heading up the stairs. I walked out the front door and made my way down towards the campfire hoping that Emily would still be there.
When I got to there I was shocked, as the fire in the middle was massive and bright green as the campers sat around the fire singing at the top of lungs. I scanned the crowd till I spotted Emily sitting next to a guy with sandy hair who looked like he was leading the sing along. Both of them were smiling at singing so they didn’t notice me as I slipped between the other kids sitting singing. I was surprised by the age of the campers here as their ages went from what looked like seven to around eighteen; they were all wearing orange shirts that had the words CAMP HALF-BLOOD across their chest. I slipped in next to Emily and tapped her on the shoulder.
“Hi, AH!” she screamed realising that I was sitting next to her. She jumped back and nearly fell of her chair. “Why did you do that?” she exclaimed, pulling herself back into her chair.
“I needed to talk to you,” I answered watching her trying to fix her hair
“Well you could have just asked politely and not scared me half to death!”
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to, anyway that’s not important. What is important is how much did you tell the others about me?” I asked. She looked at me like I was crazy
“I just told them what I knew and what you did like how you killed the cyclops just by touching him.” She replied, “why is it important how much they know?”
“Yes it is important,” I responded but I stopped as Chiron walked over and stood in front of the campers.
“It’s late now and everyone must be off to bed,” nearly all the kids siting groaned and started to get to their feet, “But first we have two new campers that arrived today, Eredos and Emily can you please come forwards.” I looked at Emily and stood up and walked down towards Chiron. When we had stood in front of everyone he introduced us, but was interrupted as Emily began glowing with a pink aura. She looked at herself in shock as when the aura left she was dressed completely different. She was wearing high heels and a low cut black dress that didn’t reveal too much of her, her blonde hair was in a braid that went over her left shoulder and she was wearing minimal make up but she looked beautiful. As I was looking at her I failed to notice the holographic symbol appear above my head it showed an inverted torch crossed with a scythe. I eventually pulled my eyes away from Emily and noticed the symbol above me head at the same time as Chiron. I made eye contact and was surprised by what was in his eyes, it was fear but it quickly disappeared as he turned to the audience.
“Hail Eredos son of Thanatos and Emily daughter of Aphrodite,” he announced as he and the rest of the campers knelt.
“God dammit,” Emily and I said under our breaths as we both realised who our parents are.

I agree with God of Books on the paragraph thing, but I'd also suggest punctuation to help your sentences be a little easier to read. :) Great start!
