The Son of Death

Chapter 3

Eredos
We were separated as Chiron concluded the camp fire and everyone went back to their respected cabins. Some guys and girls who looked like teen models grabbed her arms and lead her towards a pink cabin. From where I was standing I could see the inside of cabin was also pink and I shuddered at the thought of living or merely standing inside of it. I turned to look if anyone else had the same godly parent as me but most people avoided me and walked around me and ignored me. I was eventually left standing there alone when everyone had made it to their cabins. I spotted Chiron approaching me from where he was standing when he named our godly parents.
“Hello again Eredos,” he said looking down at me with a confused face as if he was still trying to figure out how I was
“Hi, umm, do you know which cabin is mine?” I asked pointing at the cabins “And do I have any siblings here?”
“I’m sorry child but you are the only of Thanatos and I’ll show you to your cabin as it is difficult to see during night,” he said as he began to the cabins. I ran to catch up to him and just looked around still trying to spot a cabin that I would fit into.
“What do you mean by its difficult to see at night?” I asked Chiron
“Well your cabin is pitching black during the day and at night it tends to practically turn invisible,” he explained stopping in front of a dark shadow on the floor. “This is your cabin,” he said pointing to thin outline of a cabin. “Most people can’t actually see it at night but as a child of death I can imagine that you have better night vision than most.”
“Yeah kind of,” I replied walking up the steps to the door. “I turned to Chiron, “Thanks by the way, and I’ll see you in the morning I guess.”
“Yes, up bright and early for breakfast and then some combat training,” he answered before turning and walking up towards the house that I woke up in this morning. I turned and opened the door before walking into my cabin.

My first thought is that I’m going to need a torch as the inside of the cabin was all most pitch black but the longer I stayed in the cabin the greater my vision became. The cabin had a long hall way with rooms on either side. The end of the hallway opened into a wide living room space with a couch in the centre and several chairs around the sides all of which were mad of black leather. To the left of the couch was a door labelled Head Councillor and to the right of the couch was an identical wall that was labelled Lieutenant. It was weird how many rooms their where in the cabin if I was the first child of death to walk the Earth. It was as if they expected there to be more like me. I walked into the Head councillor’s room but I stopped as when I entered I noticed a massive scythe hanging on the wall opposite the bed. I walked closer to see it and it was then that I noticed that near the head of the scythe was an inscription. I walked closer to it and read what it said in Greek, Για όταν τη χρειάζεστε which I translated to For when you need it. I went to touch it to see if there was more on the other side of the scythe but as soon as I touched the scythe it began to dissolve into black smoke. I jumped back in hope that the scythe would stop dissolving if I wasn’t touching it. As it continued to dissolve it began to move towards me as if I was magnet. I raised my hands to block the smoke but it went into my hands and disappeared. This continued to till the scythe was completely gone and then I heard a voice in my head.
“Welcome Eredos, I expect big things from you,” The the voice when silent, I turned to my bed and was shaking but I just collapsed on the bed and immediately fell asleep.

I woke again to a pitch black room; I sat up and waited for my eyes to adjust to the darkness before I got up. Once they had adjusted I got up and walked to the closet in my room. I opened it to find several orange Camp Half-Blood shirts hung up and drawer full of different sizes of black jeans. I changed out of the clothes I was wearing the night before. On the way out I passed the the place where the scythe was hanging last night and a shiver went down my spine. I quickly walked down the hall and exited the cabin, I turned to look at it as I was leaving and noticed that it was completely black and was surprised that I could see it last night. I turned and walked down to the dining pavilion where Chiron was waiting for me.
“How did you sleep last night?” he asked still looking at me as if I was a puzzle.
“I slept ok,” I replied looking around noticing some of the other campers already seated and eating.
“I imagine that you are hungry, well that is you table over there,” he said pointing to an empty table on the other side of the pavilion, “also make sure that before you eat your food that you scrape a portion of your meal into the blazer at dinner for the gods as an offer.”
“Ok, I’ll keep that in mind,” I replied, I turned away and walked over to my table and sat down. Once I was seated a dryad (wood nymph) came over and placed a plate of fruits and crackers in front of me. She had an elfish appearance and was completely green.
“Here you go Eredos, and by the way if you want anything to drink just say it to the cup and it will fill itself.”
“Thanks,” I replied looking at my cup as she walked away to serve another table.
“Sprite,” I said to the cup thinking how stupid I looked talking to a cup. I looked up to see what everyone else was doing and was surprised when I looked back at the cup that it had filled with my favourite drink. I finished my meal and was about to leave but Leonardo walked over.
“Hey, how did you sleep?” he asked sitting down with across from me.
“Good, how about you?” I answered look at him and noticing a glowing bronze sword strapped to his side.
“Same as you, anyway, Chiron asked me to take you and Emily to combat practise at the sword arena. Emily is already done there getting ready as she got up earlier than you.”
“Ok, then, I’m finished so lead the way,” I responded getting up.

When we reached the sword arena I was surprised by it, along one wall was a range of practise weapons of all sorts. I spotted a scythe on the wall and felt a pang of dread as I remembered the voice from last night. My attention was drawn back to Leonardo as he walked and stood in front of a group already assembled. Emily was standing near the back so I stood next to her. She turned and noticed that I was there and turned back to Leonardo who was talking to the group.
“Good morning class,” he said cheerfully, “hope that you are all ready for a tough train as I believe that you are going to enjoy what I have planned.”
“Common Leonardo, it’s early, can we do something easy,” someone standing in the crowd complained. A few others chorused their agreement but Leonardo’s smile just grew larger.
“Common trust me guys,” he replied before turning and walking over to a box on the side of the arena that no one had paid attention to earlier. “I hope that you all have a weapon,” he said before unlatching the lid of the box and a hell hound leapt out and eyed our group as if we were lunch.
“Scatter?” I proposed to our group before the hell hound ran towards us and chaos broke out.

I agree with God of Books on the paragraph thing, but I'd also suggest punctuation to help your sentences be a little easier to read. :) Great start!
