The Son of Death

Chapter 4

Eredos
We all separated and ran in different directions. Two either brave or foolish campers rushed towards the hell-hound while Emily and I ran to the weapon rack on the side. A few other campers followed us while the rest ran towards the exit. We reached the weapon rack at the same time as the other two campers collided with the hound. I turned quickly to watch as one tackled the hell hound around the neck and attempted to hold it still so that the other camper could kick in in the head. I turned back to the stand and made an attempt to grab a sword. As I reached towards it though I felt my hand gravitate towards the bronze scythe next to it so I grabbed it instead. I turned around and saw Emily arming herself with two short swords while the other campers grabbed an assortment of swords, daggers and bows. One of the two campers that were originally fighting the dog was thrown above us and crashed into the weapons stand with a thud nocking several weapons to the ground. The other camper was limping away from the hell hound with an ugly gash along his left leg. The hell-hound turned towards our group.
“Circle around and attack from different angles?” Emily suggested.
“Sounds like a plan,” I replied looking at the other campers ensuring that they knew what was happening. We slowly advanced on the hell hound making a loose semi-circle around it. The hound waited for us looking each of us in the eyes checking for any signs of weakness. The dog began to back up as it realised that there were too many of us for it to fight. We continued to advance on the hell-hound, pushing it back to it eventually reached a wall of the arena. It bared its teeth and growled at us which unnerved several of the other campers in our ring. The dog noticed this and took its chance; it leapt onto one of the camper with incredible speed and agility. The camper screamed trying to get the hound off herself as it attempted to bite her throat. I yelled the top of my lungs and ran towards the beast with my scythe. I hit it with the base of the scythe which threw it several metres back and off the girl. I leapt over her and placed my body between the dog and her. It rolled to its feet and bared its canines at me before leaping at me, but unlike the girl I was expecting it and was prepared for it. I side stepped as it flew towards me and swung my scythe down at its midsection. What landed on the ground wasn’t a dog but a pill of dust, Leonardo walked towards us clapping.
‘Congratulations everyone, glad to see that the monster has been sent back to Tartarus and that no one has any serious injuries,” he said looking around us with a huge smile on his face. I looked over at the camper getting up from the weapon rack where he was thrown and the other who was on the side of the arena nursing his wound. I then turned and look at the girl on floor behind me who had nearly had her throat ripped out. Anger swelled up inside of me and I advanced towards Leonardo with the scythe still in my hands.
“WHAT THE FUCK, YOU CALL THAT TRAINING, WE WERE NEARLY KILLED” I yelled pointing at the girl on the floor, then the injured guy and finally at the guy over on the weapons rack. “The thing nearly ripped several of us to shreds!” I continued as Leonardo hurriedly took several steps back as I advanced on him with the scythe.
“Calm down Eredos,” he answered still backing up, “no one got hurt, it was under control, I would have stepped in if I was needed but I wasn’t,” he continued pointing at his bow over his shoulder and the sword in his hand. I ignored what he said and continued to advance on him. I swung at his head and he parried with his blade but as he did so I caught the blade with the head of the scythe and twisted it ripping his blade out of his grasp. It went sailing thought the air and landed several metres away from both us in the dirt. I hit him in the stomach with the base of the scythe and sent him sprawling on the floor.
“Eredos stop and listen to me,” he pleaded trying to get to his feet but I swept them out from underneath him. He kept crawling back till he reached a wall in the arena. I placed the scythe blade under his neck and lifted his head up.
“Why should I?” I questioned looking into his eyes seeing nothing but fear. “WHY SHOULD I LEONARDO!” I yelled. I was aware that the rest of the class had made a circle behind me but no one was stepping to stop me.
“EREDOS, STOP!” someone yelled behind me, I turned and saw Emily standing inside the circle with both of the swords she was using before drawn, “Don’t do this,” she pleaded. My head cleared and looked back at the scythe and saw black smoke coming out of my hands and encasing the scythe in a thin layer of black smoke. The image waved and the smoke disappeared leaving the black and purple scythe from last night. I dropped as if it was burning hot and stepped back from it. I looked Leonardo in the eyes and I saw shock and fear in them. I turned and looked Emily in the eyes and saw the same thing except. I panicked and turned and ran straight into the shadow of the wall disappearing.

I agree with God of Books on the paragraph thing, but I'd also suggest punctuation to help your sentences be a little easier to read. :) Great start!
