The Trident Seekers

Chapter 8

Aaron followed me out of the big house, and I laced my hand with his. i smiled.
As soon as we reached the bottom step, he talked about all this amazing stuff the camp had to offer -magic archery, Pegasus riding, the lava wall, fighting monsters, the list went on. He pointed out the open-air dining pavilion that overlooked the Long Island Sound.
Aaron explained how Camp Half Blood was mostly a summer camp, but some kids stayed here year-round, and they'd added so many campers it was always crowded, even in winter.
As I was climbing the hill at the edge of camp known as Half Blood Hill, I turned and got an amazing view of the valley.
A big stretch of woods to the northwest, a beautiful beach, the creek, the canoe lake, lush green fields, and a whole layout of the cabins--a bizarre assortment of buildings arranged like the Greek omega,ω, with a loop of cabins around a central green, and two wings stickin out of the bottom on either side.
I counted 20 cabins in all. One glowed golden, another silver. One had grass on the roof. Another was bright red, with barbed wire trenches. One cabin was black with fiery green torches out front.
"The valley is protected from mortal eyes," Aaron said.
"As you can see, the weather is controlled, too. Each cabin represents a Greek god--a place for that god's children to live."
Aaron looked at me, like he was trying to judge how I was handling the news.
"So your saying my dad is a god? A Greek god? A 3 thousand year old god is my dad. Wow, this is…not expected." I said.
Aaron stared at me. "Your taking this awfully calmly."
"I guess, I mean, I've never met my dad, I don't know anything about him, all I have is a picture!" I took a shaky breath.
Aaron's eyes softened. "You'll be okay. We'll figure out who your dad is and it'll all be settled, by tonight at the campfire. That's when most of the undetermined demigods are claimed." He explained soothingly.
"What's claimed?" I asked.
"It's when your godly parent proves him or herself that they are, in fact, your godly parent. They're symbol shows up over your head, and that's when you know." He explained.
I let that sink in.
"Oh, so say I was a daughter of…um, Aphrodite! My symbol would be…a mirror?" I guessed.
Aaron laughed, it was a pure sound, half air, half sound.
"Close. But no, Aphrodite is the goddess of love and beauty, and her symbol is the dove."
"Ah, I see." I said.
"Well, moving on. We started with the twelve Olympian gods, Male gods on the left, female on the right. Then last year, we added a whole bunch of new cabins for the other gods who don't have thrones on Olympus.--Hecate, Iris, Hades, my mother, Hebe, the goddess of youth. The minor gods have cabins, so that they're children don't have to be crammed into the Hermes cabin." Aaron explained.
I noticed the two on the end, the biggest ones, they reminded me of a bank.
"Those two on the end, which gods are the for?" I asked.
Aaron was distracted, but he came back to his senses.
"Oh, that's Zeus ad Hera. King and Queen of the Gods."
Zeus's cabin was white marble with big columns out front with polished bronze doors emblazoned with lightning bolts.
Hera's cabin was smaller, but done in the same style, except the doors were carved with peacock feather designs, shimmering in different colours.
Unlike the other cabins, Zeus's and Hera's cabins looked closed and silent.
"Are they empty?" I asked.
Aaron nodded. "Zeus went a long time without having kids. Well, mostly. Zeus, Poseidon and Hades, the eldest brothers amongs the gods, they're called the Big Three.Theyre kids are really powerful, really dangerous. For the last seventy years or so, they tried to avoid having demigod children. But they kinda cheated. There's this girl, Thalia, she's the daughter of Zeus, and she has a younger brother named Jason, son of Jupiter, the roman equivilance of Zeus. And then there's Percy, he's the son of Poseidon. And there's a boy named Nico, he's the son of Hades. Except for them, they're are no demigod children of the Big Three, at least not that we know of." Aaron explained.
I couldn't help but feel a little disappointed. I think I would have liked being a daughter of Poseidon or Zeus.
"So were do I go? " I asked.
Aaron looked uneasy. "You kinda have to go in the Hermes cabin, since your undetermined."
I frowned.
"But hopefully tonight you'll be claimed, and you'll move in to your cabin! Stay positive." He tried to cheer me up.
I smiled, thankful.
"So let's go see what's for dinner shall we?" He held out his arm like a gentle men. I grabbed it, and we started toward the dining pavilion.

Thank you!

@Burning Sun
It's totally fine:) thank you for letting me know I really appreciate it! And glad you like it:)) I'm really not one for lemon either, just thought the moment needed it☺️

Okay, I'm not dissing your story, I LOVED IT, I mean, up until you wrote the lemon. It's a good story, and yeah, the lemon got some key points across about how close they are, but I think you could find a non-lemon way to tell the readers that.
