Jack fixed Allen up with crude stitches and he could almost stand up himself, though he still leaned on me for support as we slowly made our way to the airport.

"Are you okay?" I asked tentatively as we walked behind the group.

"I'm fine." He replied, wincing with every step. "But I'm just... so sorry. I'm an idiot."

I reached up and kissed his cheek. "You really are." I told him.

We made it to the airport and bought tickets home at last, the flight was far smoother and the only patch of turbulence when we ascended into the sky. Allen took my hand as soon as I started to panic and even though he fell asleep minutes into the flight, I managed to avoid having another panic attack and I even managed to grab a few minutes of sleep.

It was Jack who shook me awake. "We've landed." He told me and I nodded, Allen was already awake and I couldn't help feeling a little hurt when he said he didn't need my help walking anymore, though he did slip his hand into mine. We hailed a taxi to take us back to Camp Jupiter, the driver didn't even bat an eyelash at the strange plant Jack was cradling.

Camp Jupiter looked the same as ever, the Little Tiber snaking into the city and the Greek camp perched outside the gates. The only difference was that the gates were closed and we could hear the coughing from where we stood on the edge of the camp.

"Where will your mum be?" Dad asked, he wad trying to hide the hope in his eyes.

"The Greek camp." Jack answered and led the way towards it. The guard at the gate looked tired and sickly but he let us inside with a look that clearly said; 'it's your funeral'.

Mum was looking out the window of our small house as if she was expecting us but when she saw our company, she still broke into tears and burst out the door, walking tentatively towards us.

"Leo?" She asked and my dad grinned, sweeping her into a tight hug that he looked like he never wanted to release her from. "It's been too long." My mum sobbed and my dad could only squeeze her tighter in reply. Allen squeezed my hand and I smiled at him, trying to keep tears from my own eyes. Finally my parents broke apart and my mum crushed me in a hug, then her sister, then her nephew. She didn't even glance at Allen.

"Mum? What's going on?" Myles asked, walking out of the house. "Who are they?"

"Myles," Mum said. "I'd like you to meet your dad."

"What?" Myles asked, and soon he was doing the rounds of hugs too.

Allen mumbled awkwardly, "I might just go and check on my parents."

No one noticed.

"I'll come with you." I told him, and he shot me a grateful smile. I slipped my hand back into his and together we walked towards New Rome.

I couldn't believe that so much had happened. China, the attack of the robber, the fight, the police, the police car...

"You can." I blurted out.

"What?"

Heat rushed up my cheeks. "The police car, I never got the chance to answer you but you can. Kiss me, that is. I mean, only if you want to. If you don't I mean, nevermind. I just-"

And then he kissed me and I could almost forget about all our troubles.

Almost...

@The Bright One
Who? Sorry, I haven't been keeping up with the Maury Povich show that this site has turned into as of late. (For you, the New Zealander, the Maury Povich Show is a dramatic relationship-ruining talk show where deadbeat dads have to face the fact that they have to pay child support. Look it up, the stuff's hilarious.)
