The Son of Artemis

Artemis kept hugging me. When she let go the Hunters sat on the clustered beds and started to talk. "How have you been?" my mom asked. "HOW HAVE I BEEN? THAT'S WHAT YOU ASK ME AFTER FOURTEEN YEARS OF NOT SEEING ME!" I yelled at her. My mind racing because of anger, sadness, or even joy. One of the hunters stood and growled at me, "How DARE you speak to a goddess like that!" My mom spoke calmly, "It's okay Thalia." Thalia sat down. She had black hair and a punk jeans on, but she still had a silver parka on. "Look Darren. You're special. The gods of Olympus HATE you right now. I broke my oath to Olympus." I looked at her with her sad eyes. She clearly was hiding something about my dad. "The problems with Hades and Melione haven't been helping my father." my mom said. "Melione?" I asked. "Melione is the minor goddess of ghosts. She somehow kidnapped Hades and hid him somewhere and she's going to release all the ghosts of the world on Olympus on the winter solstice." Chiron came through the door along with a bearded dude with a leopard striped shirt. "Artemis! Wha-... You and Darren need to come to the Big House."

"Now let's discuss Darren." said Dionysus. My mom smiled, "Yes. Let's talk about my child.". Dionysus( or Mr.D ) shuffled his papers on his desk while the fire crackled. My mom was a twelve year old again which was kind of weird. "What powers does a son of the huntress goddess have?" asked Mr.D. "Darren is good at tracking and Archery of course." said my mom. Mr.D looked at me. "Is this true?" I answered. "I'm good at archery but I don't know about the tracking part." "Can he bend moonlight?" asked Chiron. Artemis nodded. "In time. But I want my Darren on a quest to defeat Melione and save Hades." Mr.D spit out his diet Coke. "Artemis that's a big deal!" Artemis stood up, "Darren is a great demigod in time and he will go on that quest!" Chiron ushered me into another room. "Go to the cave at the top of the hill. In there is a girl named Rachel Elizabeth Dare. Ask her what your fate is." I nodded and scrambled out the door.

The cave was bright. The girl was in a arm chair reading a gossip magazine next to a fireplace. "Hey, you're new." I told her about what Chiron told me and she nodded. "Okay, Let's do this." She cracked her neck and said, "Ask me." I gulped. "What is my fate?" Rachel's mouth opened and green mist spilled out. Her eyes glowed and she was lifted off the ground. She said:

The bow, the light, the owl, the corn
shall go on a quest with two more,
The ghost queen shall unleash
the forgotten of the beneath.
Olympus shall crumple without the six
win or fail the close will be the fifth.
The traitor shall betray he will be the king
the kingdom will fall or crumble in his hands
the war shall end in the time of the sands.


Rachel fell to the ground and I caught her. When she opened her eyes she did something unexpected. She kissed me. Her lips were soft and she touched my face. After about five minutes her eyes widened and she slapped me. "OW!!" I yelled. "YOU KISSED ME!!" Rachel said, "I did?" And I ran to the big house. What the heck did that poem mean?!" Instead of the big house I ran to the Artemis cabin. The Hunters looked at me but I got in my bed and started to cry. I miss my old life.

I miss my dad.
