The Son of Artemis

I'm Devin McQuain and I'm twelve years old. People underestimate me because I'm young but I'm the head archer for Camp Half Blood. I was teaching a class in the arena. The most talented archers there (That aren't children of Apollo... or Artemis. Since that Darren kid is here.) was Chloe Quet and Annabeth Chase. Both daughters of Athena. I walked around watching the archers. The worst archer was definitely Percy Jackson. He scrambled for his arrows and never got a arrow in the 5 section of the target. I know he just came back from Greece and came here to defeat Gaea, but I'm a tough teacher and I don't give breaks. "Class!" I yelled trying to get their attention. A stray arrow whizzed towards me and I snatched it from the air. "Who?" I said calmly. All the classs' fingers pointed to Percy. "Jackson. I've had enough." He chuckled. "Ya know Devin. you're the most angry and serious 12 year old i've seen." I growled and took out my bow quickly and in a second, a arrow was notched at Percy's face. "I swear Jackson. I can let this arrow go and end your life." Before Percy said anything a howl pierced the air and fire illuminated the arena. "What the-" I gasped. About fifty hellhounds came into the arena with a old hairy man on there backs. He had gray hair and gold teeth. "Ah! Demigods! I've come for one of you only. Devin." I notched a arrow on my golden bow and snarled. "Who are you?!" I screamed. The werewolf smiled. "I am Lycaon. The first werewolf."

"Evacuate the arena everybody!" All the demigods filed out. I drew my arrow and shot. The arrow found its mark but it looked like it didn't hurt the wolf. "Devin you may be brave, but you're not very smart." Lycaon's front line surged after me. I ran out of the arena and yelled to my cabin, "Ranks of Pheobus Apollo, ATTACK!!!!" Arrows followed my scream as the wolves sunk to the ground with arrows in their hind. I ran in my cabin. Immediate pain surged to my calf. "Where's Will?!" I screamed. Quentin the oldest of the cabin said, "He's at the infirmary. But im the second healer in command." He walked over to me as I sunk to the ground. One of the wolves bit my calf as I was running. Quentin took my calf in his hand while the other Apollo kids were either baracading the door or killing wolves. Energy flowed from Quentin's hands onto my calf."YOU CAN'T HIDE FOREVER APOLLO SCUM!!!" Haley from Aphrodite who took refuge in the Apollo cabin asked, "Does he want you or something?" I said yes to her and got up, "And it's me he'll get." I limped out with my bandaged calf and drew a silver arrow on my bow. I shot and it missed Lycaon by two centimeters. "Devin. Trying archery again are we?" Jason Grace flew from the sky and struck at the wolf. He caught the sword and it disinegrated. "Oh COME ON!!!" A wolf was chasing Mr. D around and the new kid Darren took a bow from the Armory and was shooting wolves. He was pretty good. "DARREN!!!! CATCH!!!" I threw a silver arrow for him. I ran to the middle of the cabin area and notched a silver arrow, Darren on my back doing the same. We were picking off wolves one by one. The whole camp was helping... even the Aphrodite kids! "You know Darren, youre pretty good.

Darren laughed and said, "You too." Just then a arrow pierced my shirt and pinned me on the Athena cabin. I struggled to get the arrow free. I just ripped my shirt off as Lycaon charged to me.

I notched my final silver arrow and aimed. Lycaon growled and howled, "I WILL FINALLY KILL DEVIN!!! SO HE WON'T GO ON THAT QUEST!!!" I let the arrow fly and a howl filled the air.

Lycaon was dead.
