One Shots

They were celebrating Gaea’s defeat at New Rome. They might still be mourning over Leo Valdez’s death but they did save the entire world, and the party was held in his honour. The demigods were on top of the hill, the Garden of Bacchus. Music was playing, laughter was heard, every demigod present was joyous in this particular night. Reyna sat alone, sipping some red wine as she sat on the couch, watching as others laughed and couples dancing together. Actually, she was watching a particular happily dancing couple, Jason Grace and Piper McLean. No, she didn’t exactly feel jealousy over the daughter of Aphrodite, but she longed for the way how the son of Jupiter’s fingers intertwined with hers and the gentle touch of his fingers on her face as their lips were pressed against each other at the eve of his disappearance. A teardrop suddenly fell to her cheek and she wiped it away just as the couple approach the place where she sat. “What’s wrong?” Piper asked, seeing Reyna wiped away her tears. She answered, “I’m just… tired.” Reyna lied. The two girls talked and started sharing stories about the one and only Jason Grace and his stupidities. The person was just standing there and blushed each time the girls exchanged embarrassing stories about him. A slow song came on and a nostalgic feeling overcame Reyna. She couldn’t keep back her tears now and they flow freely, only stopped by a familiar touch. “Let’s share a dance… For old time’s sake?” Jason asked as if he heard her thoughts. Piper was standing behind him but with a look of approval in her face. “For old time’s sake.” She answered and stood up. He put his hands on her waist gently yet firmly and she rested her arms behind his neck as they sway to the music. “I’m sorry, I’m not good at being graceful.” He said, and as if realising his mistake he quickly said, “Don’t even think of making a ‘Jason GRACE’ joke.” She laughed and so did he. Once more he stepped on her foot and she said, “You never got better, not even since that night.” She looked up to see his eyes and said, “Don’t you remember?” “I’ll never forget us, Reyna.” He whispered. Reyna was speechless and smiling, and for that little while, as their bodies were pressed closely against each other and they were swaying to the music, nothing else mattered…
