The Original Character Court

Rosie Anne Heddar

Submitted by: RiverStyx
Basics
Name: Rosie Anne Heddar
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Birthday: 1/6/1999
Ethnicity: American
Hair color: Light brown
Eye color: Brown (dark blue when wearing her contacts, which is often)
Other physical descriptions: Rosie has a scar on her right palm, which looks strangely like a smirk. She got it when she was was six by tripping over a rock and sticking out her right arm to soften her fall.
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 124 lbs
[She's precariously on the border of underweight and healthy.]
Sexual orientation: Bisexual
[Yay]
Godly parent: Iris
[Ah. Rainbow. I see what you did there.]
Mortal parent: Nick Heddar
Other relationships:
  • Anne Heddar: Unlike her sister, she's very impatient and rushes through everything. She's also incredibly...no, disgustingly selfish. The only thing they really share in common is their love for rain and sun. Anne's older by two years and has already graduated and began searching for a suitable [?]

  • Alexandra Roberts: Rosie's bossy, jealous friend.
    • [WHY ARE YOU FRIENDS? You deserve a better friend, love.]
She has a bad temper and nearly everyone at school dislikes her, at least a little. Rosie and Alex met in second grade. Alex brought in sparkly heart stickers for Show-and-Tell, and on the bus, they ended up sharing a seat. Rosie said that the stickers were the "awesomest stickers EVER!" Since then, they've been friends.
[Then she turned out to be a bitch.]
  • Nick Heddar: Rosie and Anne's father. Iris abandoned him after she gave birth to Rose. Although Iris told him who she was, and why she couldn't stay, he still thinks about her—there's a picture of her in the living room, and he still hasn't thrown out Iris's parting gift: a t-shirt with with a smiley-face on it.
[Cute.]
  • Sandra Rater: Rosie's enemy at Camp Half-Blood. She's a child of Demeter and starts disliking Rosie when she stepped on a couple of plants and took away Miley's attention.
[Stepped on a couple of plants? Sounds a little superficial, love.]
  • Miley Rater: Rosie's first demigod friend, and Sandra's twin. She looks a little like Anne, with her messy, dirt-brown hair and matching eyes, but Rosie warms up to her sweet personality almost instantly.
[I ship it. Whoop. Sorry.]
  • David Karmen: Son of Apollo and Sandra's on-and-off boyfriend. He's an incredibly skilled medic and has mixed feelings toward Rosie—some days his eyes practically turn into hearts, and some days, he's faithful to Sandra.
[Sleeze]

Personality
Positive traits: She's loyal and incredibly intelligent, she just rarely shows it due to her best friend Alexandra, who gets mad whenever Rosie outsmarts her.
[Yeah, I really don't like Alexandra.]
She's also an optimist and believes that no matter what situation she's in, it will get better, no matter how long it takes (she's very patient).
[Yeah, I'd think Iris kids are optimistic]

Negative traits: Unfortunately, her happy outlook can be dampened without much effort, as she is very passive and she could get very unhappy before finally speaking up. Other people can manipulate her easily, if they tried.
[Good negative traits. Yeah. They balance out the positive really well.]

Fears/Phobias: Rosie has a fear of being forgotten by her friends and family, even if it's just for a bit. She got this phobia when she was ten and was playing hide-and-seek with her older sister Anne. She kept hidden in her father's closet for an hour, long after after Anne had given up. (This set in motion her fear and her patience.) Her dad finally found her slightly hungry and in tears, but unharmed.
[That is pretty traumatizing]

Fatal Flaw: Her passiveness! Like I said, she's very easy to control. No one really knows how she turned out so passive, but it isn't easy having a friend like Alexandra (the one who hates being outsmarted)
[Again. Love, why? She's a (excuse the language) shit friend.]
and a sister like Anne.
[Yeah, the sister's a bitch too. I definitely see how this fatal flaw plays out.]

Combat-related questions
Camp: Camp Half-Blood
Weapon of choice: Rosie works well with the typical weapons—dagger, bow and arrow, javelin, et cetera, but she likes using any type of sword.
[Probably the standard xiphos]
Powers and Abilities: Her power is to summon the rainbow grass
[What?]
whenever she's in need (Rosie summoned it without knowing when she got her scar and when her dad disappeared). It's an odd power but it comes in handy often.
[Not sure what rainbow grass is or how it works and how it's helpful so please expound.]
Backstory:
Rosie's first signs of her parentage was when she was six and playing outside in the rain and got her scar. She started toward the house, bawling and wanting the comfort of her dad's soft voice, she spotted a peculiar path of rainbow grass.
[What is this?]
She ran toward it, forgetting about her cut, but whenever she came close, the colors seemed to inch away. Eventually, she came upon an abandoned campsite. Then it lead her back home, where she noticed the scar was still on her hand, but it didn't hurt anymore. The path to the campsite stuck in her memory, and since then, it had became her haven.
On Rosie's seventh birthday, John was driving her and Anne home after seeing their cousins, but then a Ford rammed into their trunk. Luckily, no one was hurt, but John went to meet with someone from his insurance agency about his car. A police officer drove them home and babysat them for a couple hours. The dumbass police officer seemed to like Anne more. Anne soaked up the attention and didn't consider how her sister was doing. (Also one reason why she hates being forgotten.)
[Ouch]
A year later, Rosie was out grocery shopping with John. They were waiting in line to pay when the cashier grinned slowly at them and his skin flickered blue. John abandoned his shopping cart and ushered Rosie out the store.
[Yikes]
Now, fast forward to a week after she turned 16. Her father disappeared without a single word. Rosie, hoping he was just going out to check the mail, peeked outside. John was obviously not there, but the rainbow grass was. Rosie got Anne to come outside and followed it to the campsite, where they stayed for a couple of days. Then a satyr luckily found them and lead them back to Camp Half-Blood.

Comments:
This is actually a really good OC. And a child of Iris! A super under-used goddess. Nice one. There are a few kinks that you could work on (I have already given my comments) but besides that, she's fine. She's well-balanced and a pretty believable character. I'm impressed.

Final judgement: Elysium.
