My Life as the Daughter of Poseidon: Book One: True Me, True You

How was this possible?
My head swum, and I blacked out, the whole scene replaying in my mind.

We had rescued the missing Hunter, and made our way back to Camp. Then, a hellhound attacked us from behind. It killed Alisia instantly. As she lay broken on the ground, Ella struggled to fight the creature with me. She was able to to kill it, but just as she did, it stuck one of it's claws into her heart. She didn't even have a chance to prove herself innocent. Ella was on the scene of a maiming inside of Camp, and her name had yet to be cleared.
I wasn't able to save either of them.
When I woke up, I was staring at a white ceiling I knew all too well. I expected Ella to come over to me and give me some funky-sounding medicine the second my eyes opened, but she didn't. Kacy sat on the edge of my bed. "I figured Cherri's perky mood wouldn't suit you right now."
"Wow, a mind reader."
"Aww, you're acting like Tsunami!"
"Am not. I don't feel like arguing."
Kacy put a hand on my shoulder.
"Yeah, I'm really sorry about Alisia."
"What about Ella?"
"What about her?"
"Isn't she...."
I couldn't continue.
"More like wasn't she. Wasn't she on the verge of death, wasn't she stabbed right next to the heart, wasn't she-"
"What?!"
Ella came in, leaning on Will's shoulder. She was wearing her average, everyday outfit, but I could see gauze peeking out from beneath her top.
"Why, Sarah, did you think I was dead?"
Ella was smirking.
"You are the most annoying friend ever."
I tried to get up and see her, but my leg wouldn't work.
"By the way, your leg shattered. It'll take a while for it to heal."
Kacy stated.
"Oh, yay! We can be invalids together!"
said Ella, as Will guided her over to a wheelchair. I looked at her in alarm.
"Don't worry, I'm not the maim-ee this time, not that I was ever the maim-er. This is temporary."
"Oh joy."
Kacy handed me crutches.
