It's A Jungle Out There
Orphanage But Not Really
The lady was nice, but that didn't help. Shoulder length black hair, dark blue eyes. She was wearing a black pencil skirt, white blouse, black blazer, black heels. She was holding a clipboard, and looked all together too perky. It was my second or third foster home, I was ten years old. I saw my fake mother talking to her at the door. "Leila, can you can you come here please?" she said in a fake honey-sweet voice. "This lady here says you called the orphanage and said I was being mean!" she said, trying and failing at acting surprised. "Actually, I said you were acting like you were from hell." I corrected. I hiked up my bag which I always kept near me in hopes I could move on. The lady looked at me. Then she looked at Gina, the lady who adopted me."Ok, Leila, let's go!" I stood up, flashed a piece sign to Gina, and walked out the door.
I sat in the back seat of the car and chewed some bubble gum. "So are you ready?" the lady asked. "Oh! By the way, I'm the one who you spoke to over the phone! I'm Jilee!"
"Nice to know."
"Oohf, sweetie, I'm taking you somewhere safe and fun and kind, and I really think you'll be happy."
"Doubt it." I muttered, but she heard me anyway, and gave me a sympathetic look through the mirror.
Notes
Sorry this was a bit short! It's late and I'm tired. Nah, who am I kidding. I just don't feel like writing much. The other chapters will be longer.
