It's A Jungle Out There
For The Love of Heels
For the love of heels! We got stuck in a hell of a lot of traffic, and when we finally came across a place to get off the road, all we found was a small town. "Oh well!" Jilee said, still annoyingly perky. "We might as well stop and get a bite to eat!"
But the second she stepped out of the car, one of her heels snapped off, and she fell back into the car. Good thing she wasn't wearing a loose skirt. This place was public.
"Some tumble! Well-" she snapped off the other heel easily. "That is what these were meant for!" She threw the heel straight into the trunk of a tree, lodging it firmly in place. "Now! Where do you think we could get a salad?"
I stared at her, dumbfounded, until she waved a hand in front of me. "C'mon!" she said, leading me to a fancy looking soup, salad and sandwich place. We sat don in a booth that seemed to be dug into the polished wooden walls and the waitress came up to us and handed us some menus and gave us booth waters. "Well, I'll have the Greek garden salad, and she'll have..." she trailed off, looking at me. "The Greek olive sandwich." I said. The black and green olive, red pepper, smoked gouda, (was that even Greek?) honey mustard, and multi-grain bread sounded pretty good. When the waitress returned, I bit into my sandwich hungrily.
Note to self: smoked gouda is good.
We soon finished our meals and Jilee paid, then walked back to the car, where people where gathered around the heel in the tree. Jilee and I looked at each other and laughed. "So," I asked. "Where are you taking me?"
