It's A Jungle Out There

Chiron 'n' the Weapon's Shack

Ok. I needed a weapon. I should be claimed within the next few days. "Ok, sweetie, just back away from the dragon and come with me."
"Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..............uhhhh...ummmmmmmm"

I slowly backed away, and at the last minute tripped backwards into Jilee's outstretched trust-fall style arms. She dragged me like that up the hill for a while, then pushed me onto my feet, covered my eyes, and turned me around.

"Ready?"
"Yes!" I whispered, just loud enough for her to hear.
When she pulled away her hands, and I saw were beautiful sprawling hills, a large, blue farmhouse next to strawberry fields, a pavilion full of tables and what looked like an arena. When I took a few steps, the grass soft under my old gray-should-be-white flip flops. I was wearing light gray shorts white dots, and a plain white tank top. I was actually quite glad I was wearing what I was, because Jilee's blazer and pencil skirt looked a bit too classy for a demigod summer camp. Jilee led me to the Big House, and Chiron was playing poker with Mr. D as predicted.

"Ah, Jilee! One of my favorite daughters of Aphrodite! And I see your mission was a success, excellent good, have you explained much to her?"
"Almost everything."
"Lovely. Now, show her the video and we'll be done."

That orientation video scarred me. You know, ever so slightly.

Then I was brought to the weapons shack. Jilee kept tripping in her heels, which was always funny, but it was hard to laugh when I was in a creepy old wooden garden shed.
I was led past the daggers and guns, spears and swords, and even a very pointy shovel....

Towards the back, several bows were on a shelf that only Jilee in her heels could reach. I guess they are useful for something. Heels, I mean.
She blew some dust off the shelf and then pulled up an empty wooden crate that apparently used to hold something called "Greek fire"
I looked around, and only one bow caught my eye. Carved of oak, this bow was beautifully polished once I got all the dust off, and wound around it was a somehow still-green vine with small leaves and yellow blossoms that didn't get in the way of shooting. It was perfect.

Notes

I think you all know where this is going. ;-)
