It's A Jungle Out There

'Zing! Zing! Zing! Zing!"

I watched four arrows fly out in front of my and hit the bull's eyes of four different targets.

I had gotten good fast, in just under a few days. It was the talk of the camp, everyone was saying I'd end up a daughter of Apollo, but somehow it didn't feel right. I suppose it might be normal for a demigod to feel unsure of her parentage.....

"Hey, what did those targets ever do to you?"
Jilee walked up to me.
"Nothing... but this is fun!"
Jilee snapped the heels off of the pair of heels she was wearing, and the nearest dummy was soon embedded with two heels.
"I heard today was Capture the Flag!"
"Your first game!"
"I can't wait!"

Later that day, I was relaxing in the shallow ocean water half-asleep in an inner tube. Then, all of a sudden I heard, "CANNONBALL!!!!!!" and I was hit with hundreds of gallons of water and fell through the hole in the center of my tube, the bright green material slick with the salty liquid.

I flailed around underwater until I straightened myself out, and then I as able to see a girl who looked about my age, maybe a year older. She had tan-brown skin, brown eyes with green in a spiky ring around her pupil, a black pixie cut, and she was wearing a bikini that had ruffles ranging from blues to greens to blue-greens, except on most of the bottom. She smiled and waved at me before pushing herself upwards, leaving a cloud of sand and bubbles in my face. I hoped none of the sand got into my green and aqua leaf-print two piece.

I followed her up, and she was there waiting for me. "Hi! I'm Jessie, nearly fourteen, daughter of Poseidon! Who are you?"
"Umm, Leila, a few months after thirteen, just got here, so unclaimed."
"Oh yeah! You're the one who came in with Jilee!"
"That's me."
"Ha, don't worry, you're more known for the great archery."
"Thanks. Hey, do you know what the teams for Capture the Flag are?"
She swam a bit closer.
"You didn't hear it from me, but Percy did say Hermes and Poseidon are together."
"Cool!"
"Cool!"

Later that night when I was squished onto the end of the Hermes table (though according to Jilee, it had gotten better since the Second Titan War) and was eating my pasta with butter, salt and parmesan cheese, I couldn't help but notice Jessie and Percy laughing at their table and eating burgers. Jessie was somehow able to look good while eating a burger.

I strapped on my armor and quiver, listening to Annabeth (Athena was also on our team) and Percy barking out battle plans. "And, you, Leila, you can stand guard with Jessie by the flag. Don't let me down."

We were stationed at a small pond with the flag on a rock in the middle.
Jessie was carrying her jagged bronze sword, and she kept looking all around, though I was too. It was hard not to be freaked out when it's your first time playing Capture the Flag and two of the greatest and most powerful demigods ever told you not to let them down. All of sudden, Percy came sprinting through the woods. "Go get the flag, hurry! We have nearly their whole team after us, go capture the flag!"

We tried our best to stay away from them, ducking in between trees and behind boulders.
"Gods, they did have the whole team after them!" Jessie said as we ran towards the small clearing that another Athena child had directed us to, saying that was where the flag was.
There it was, in all of it's red-flag glory. Jessie and I both reached for the flag, and when we grabbed it, our hands touched. Then we ran with it, all the way across the border.

Ok! I'm sorry its been a while since I updated, so I made this nice and long since I hade to rewrite this chapter anyway.
