It's A Jungle Out There

"Run, Sindy!"
"Jump Tina!"
"Duck Jake!"
I yelled one instruction after another to the younger kids I was teaching, watching them run about shooting fake arrows at each other.
The arena had been set up with lots of obstacles, like tunnels and barrels and trees.
I saw Tina, a daughter of Demeter, duck behind a tree and then swing back around, shooting Sindy, a daughter of Hermes, in the chest.
"Sindy, you're out!" I called out to her. Dustin, son of Athena, whirled around and looked ready to shoot Sindy, but she was behind him and before he could react she had shot him in the back.
"And Sindy wins!"
Sindy came over to me and smiled.
"I'll see you next week at your elite lessons!"
Dustin pulled the suction cup arrow off of his back.
"And Dustin? I'll see you in the next tournament!"
Man. Coaching these guys made me feel like a giddy little five year old. Even though these guys are, like ten.
